New ceiling lights

The old 5 spur lights that were 6 years one of them packed up entirely if you remember and Sue ordered the above from John Lewis they are LED ones. They arrived midday and as I had a chance to be alone I fitted them. One problem was the round part was larger that the previous, consequently the fixing bar to the ceiling was longer.
Not wanting to punch more holes in the ceiling plasterboard the only other alternative was to drill new holes in the fixing bar, Thank goodness for the bench drill and vice clamps on it. So having made the new holes the rest was easy.
Had to be carefull with the shades as they are fine glass and to put them on it needed small hands, which I have, to get inside to screw into the light arms.
so now I still have one good 5 prong light fitting. got no idea what to with it unless ben has a use in his new house

If you have future trouble fitting screw lamps into tight spaces, try a rubber sucker on the end and it’s much easier that risking shades etc with bulky fingers; that always works for me :+1:

Great job. Have to admit that it’s never occurred to me to drill matching fixing holes in the bracket.

You can imagine the number of times that moronic people like me have ended up trying to find fixing points, missing them, having bits of plaster tumbling down, trying to glue rawlplugs into oversized holes, forcing the cowl to try and cover the mess one has now made, and wiping the finger marks from the paintwork in the hope that nobody else will look too closely!!

Top tip that.
