New Beauty Section?

Hello Azz, I don’t know if you had a peek at the thread about Urine Facials, but on there, a few of us ladies thought it would be nice if we had a Health & Beauty thread for us oldies, so we could swap tips for mature skins, hair and other bits and bobs.

We have got health and fitness, and diets, and general health, but nothing for beauty care.

How do you feel about that? Would it be worth a try or not?

Thank you.

Ok Mups, I’ve added it on a trial basis  if it doesn’t get used much we’ll remove it and move the threads to one of the other sections :023:

Sounds good to me Mups.

I have dry skin, but only use Coco butter on my face.

Any other ideas which is not expensive?

Fair enough Azz. At least we can try it now.
Thank you. :023:

Wouldn’t that be covered by the DIY section? Y’know, filling, sanding etc.

Runs for cover.

A great idea Mups.
Longy is only jealous.

I don’t spend a lot of money on skin care.
I like Aldi for face cream.
I have loads of tips for hair care.
Let’s see how the thread goes.

Now listen 'ere dongle, you can 'oppit for a start!

BTW, when you men have shaved, do you use anything on your skin?

And what about the old Grecian 2000?

Oooh, we’ve got one! Well done Mupsy

Now about hair … anyone ever tried those fibre thingies to boost thinning hair - total utter rubbish. :022:

Ooh, ta muchly Pesta, and all other ladies. We can see how it goes ey.

I don’t think I know what those ‘fibre thingies’ are, can you explain a bit more?

There’s lots on the market… both for men and women. It’s shaken on and it’s supposed to make the thinning bits look thicker. There’s various websites and videos and quite a few celebs use it.
It feels horrible and looks naff

Example:

Fibre thingies what are they?
Thinning hair - Sorry no cure, but there are ways to enhance.
I am drinking tonight, but tomorrow I promise to post some really good tips.
This IS a very good thread.

Just a passing thought, we are not talking fibre in our diets are we.

Ooer, can’t see that working very well.
Does it all brush out everytime you brush your hair I wonder? Must look like dark dandruff.
Bet it makes a mess on the pillow too.

The very thought:shock:
Advertisers claiming all this rubbish.:frowning:
I hate them for it.
I promise to be sensible tomorrow.
BTW drinking lots of water is always good.
Even though I am drinking wine.

It makes the hair full of static and just looks flat matt. There’s also a spray to keep it in, or you can probably use ordinary hair spray.
Yes, it would make a mess of the pillow. I used it once and washed it out asap.
Then I found a spray one and that was equally bad.

Think I’ll get a wig, 'cept that would look wiggie.
Maybe I could find a rich bloke and he’d pay for me to have a hair transplant.

Dad was bald, his brother was bald, my male cousin is bald. Mum’s hair was thin, her mum’s hair was thin as was her sisters.
I’ve had thyroid probs (have none now). Thyroid problems can cause thinning hair. Bad diet. With age you can lose hair…
Tis no wonder I have thinning hair
:022::022::022:

Goodness, my sweet cheer up.
Dolly Parton wears a wig and Cher.
Yes, hormones are to blame for lots of things.
I bet you have a lovely complexion.

I’m not sad … just jokey weepy

Look at this lot for us poor souls: (you probably can see loads of them if you’ve been at the sauce)

The sauce! That made me laugh.

Hi

The boring scientific view.

This stuff works, minoxidil.

You can get the generic stuff, but unless you feel confident messing around with it, Regaine is available from Boots or online.

Notice the price difference between the 5% strength for men and 2% for women.

You ladies are getting ripped off.

For shiny hair try eating lots of almonds
I eat them for my health not beauty .
One of the side benefits is thick silky hair.
I eat about 500g a week.
