Needlecraft Butterflies my old new project

Just sharing my 32 year old unfinished project, started in my twenties, which I found a few months ago when going through some old things in a cupboard.

I’ve picked it up this week as I have been very sick in bed with a nasty autumn/winter bug, which has been very boring. It’s surprisingly therapeutic. The original Prima magazine was also in the bag along with another cross stitch project I never started.

I’ve filled in the grey butterfly bodies this week and am working on the two large butterfly wings at the bottom of the hoop. I think a lack of thread stalled the project at the time and then I lost interest in the long & short stitch section. I found three brand new thread bundles which must have been the missing colours. I still remember the novelty of going into the department store to choose the needles, hoop and threads. I thought it might be nice to finally finish it off!

It’s beautiful, Annie! I used to do needlework in my twenties, after I put the kids to bed at night. It’s soothing, relaxing to do.
Glad you found it, and hope to see the finished project when it’s done.

Yes I am definitely planning to frame it after so many years. I haven’t really looked into it yet as might be a way off given my track record, but I think Ikea do cheap frames.
