Culture secretary Nadine Dorries is set to step down and return to the backbenches as Liz Truss becomes prime minister on Tuesday.
Truss, the new leader of the Conservative party, is understood to have offered Dorries the opportunity to remain in the role, but Dorries, an ardent supporter of Boris Johnson during his controversial stint at No 10, is expected to receive a peerage from the outgoing prime minister when he leaves office.
No surprise there …
