heavy snow here in Ireland today here are some photos i took this morning
I don’t envy you, I hope we don’t get any this Winter.
We have lots of pictures like that from past Winters, I never look back at them
Crikey I only got a little dusting and it’s all already melted and gone.
Morti! I haven’t chatted with you here in a long time. Hope you are well!
I was there in the winter of 1962/3 trudging to school - don’t miss it a tiny bit.
Yes, I remember it well. Especially where we lived up in the hills.
I remember that so well. Not a single day off school, the buses ran as normal
Same here. I remember going to school buried up to my knees in snow and complaining about it wasn’t thought of. Guess we were made of sterner stuff back then.
Yep, a mile walk to school every morning after I had delivered the papers first thing. The only people who came on a bus were the farmers kids from out in the sticks.
Similar for me, my last year at grammar school. Steamy classrooms smelling of socks drying on radiators, red marks on the back of your legs where the wellies chafed.
Cliff Michalmore (sp?) on TV telling us that it was the beginning of a new ice age.
I don’t think my kids ever owned gum boots
Well, that was me! Six miles to get to school. Six miles back. Mostly I went by bike.
I remember walking to school in the snow, in the late 70s/early 80s, no days off! Everything was normal, we built a giant snowman in the playground .
I also remember when I was working in late 80s, having to buy snow boots to get to work, the pavements were full of icy snow, busses and tubes were still running but with many delays, so I was still expected to be in the office, as usual . I was envious of my colleagues who lived outside London and couldn’t come to work because of British Rail trains being canceled.
