A very worrying time for you Mups. I’m sure everything will be ok for wee Mups, bless her…and you of course. XX
SO glad today’s news was good news Mups. xx
Thank you EZ and Dongles.
You’re all very kind. x x
I am very relieved for you Mups hoping all is well with the blood test …
Mups, I am so pleased that worst diagnosis isn’t the case. Now you have to go through the procedure of finding what is causing the problem, but your vet is good and you will get there in the end.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could ask her questions?
Please keep us up to date with her progress and give her a hug from me.
This is the worry when you have these lovely pets. They get sick and maybe off their food or don’t even want to go for their walks. If only they could tell you what’s wrong or where it hurts. Get well soon Mups Jr. XX
Great news Mups, so far so good, lets hope for the all clear.
Glad it all went well Mups
Good news Mups, I’m relieved for you. I hope the blood tests find a treatable cause of her problems x
Thank you Meg, Twink, EZ, Nom, Summer & Leia. You are all very kind to show such an interest in my little friend.
She seems happy this morning, even came and asked for her breakfast and she hasn’t been that bothered of late.
I shall just have to wait and see if the new tests reveal anything later today.

This was her out in the fields last summer.
What a lovely photo of your lovely girl, Mups x
Thank you Mags.
If you can stand some more of my witterings, I will tell you all sorts has been going on today.
The vet phoned this afternoon and said the bile acid test was fine.
Her liver is also functioning ok.
The red & white cells count is ‘within normal’ parameters now.
But, her platelets are too low, which could still indicate internal bleeding somewhere, and still possibly Leukaemia.
He wants to see her again in another week and do some more simpler tests, and also he wants to treat her with Advocate to rule out any possible lungworm.
I suppose this could be a possibility because maybe she could have picked up a slug or snail when she’s been eating the compost from my tubs, and it’s those blighters which cause the lungworms.
However, I’ve been doing some research on Advocate spot-on , and I am not altogether happy about her having it, especially if she has not even got lungworm.
I have read lots of reviews about it burning the skin at point of contact, so what the 'eck does it doinside?
It seems a powerful chemical to use if she has no lungworms, and she is not young anymore.
There is a laboratory not far from me that analyses poo samples from all animals - from a tortoise to a horse!
I contacted the lady, explained about my reluctance to use that particular drug without certain evidence of lungworm, and asked her about testing for it first. She agreed with me.
She said she thought Hookworm can also cause internal bleeding too.
So I am going to go ahead with the tests and know for sure what we’re dealing with.
I have got to collect samples over three days, and I am having a total worm count analysis done for every type of worm in existence.
Then I will transfer the samples to the kit she is sending, and if I can get 3 samples by Saturday, I will deliver them to her lab myself, it will be quicker than the post.
She said she doesn’t normally work Saturdays, but will do the tests for me specially and email me a full written report in time to take to the vets with me next week.
This full test and report will cost me £28.80, probably a fraction of what a vet’s lab would charge, and we will also know for sure what we are dealing with.
I darn well WILL sort this little 'un out, and if I don’t, it sure won’t be because I haven’t tried!
You have been busy Mups. what a great idea getting the samples tested elsewhere and for a good price too. I’m sure you will get there in the end.
Good idea getting the samples tested Mups, it will all help towards getting a diagnosis.
Thanks dongles :-).
Not sure yet whether the vet will be cross I’ve acted on my own initiative, or pleased to have the information, but I’m going to do it anyway.
I never stuff my dogs with drugs if I can help it, even though many use these nasties on a regualr basis. I firmly believe in finding out if they need them or not first.
Yes, I thought so too Mags.
Think I might have sorted my poorly sore back out too, but I will see about that later.
What a day.
That sounds like it’ll be money well spent on those tests. That’s kind of the lady to have the samples analysed so quickly for you. Fingers crossed you’ll have the answer to treat little Mups x
I’m sure she will be back to her loveable self before long Mups. Till then just keep on spoiling her like i always do when one of mine becomes sick. XX
Well done on getting that poo testing done. I had my dogs poo tested for Campylobacter and Giardia and it was a similar thing, 3 samples etc. Sure it cost well over £100 doing it through the vet
Glad little Mups is feeling better anyway.
Her liver is also functioning ok.
The red & white cells count is ‘within normal’ parameters now.
Hi Mups that is something positive.
Dogs with lungworm usually have a persistent cough .
One of our bitches Emma had leukaemia and it was very noticeable something was wrong , she was very lethargic :-(.
Hopefully, the next round of vet tests will eliminate anything serious .
