My allotment

Some people did promise me some canes but they seem to have forgotten.

If you are buying new canes Jan then autumn raspberries are worth considering such as the ones that I grow, “Joan J” . I have found that the fruits are bigger and with better flavour, are self supporting if planted in a sheltered spot and after fruiting they can be cut back to the ground ready for them to completely regenerate the following season. I haven’t bothered with summer raspberries at all since I discovered the autumn varieties.

My local B&Q didn’t have any. Spose I need to find some garden centres.

Think when its dark on your allotment go and nick a few. off other plots
The two prates next to my plot planted them along their borders.

They tend to spread and enconche(SP) on by plot like weeds.

So I just pick the fruits LOVELY

We discourage theft on our allotments! Get caught and you risk being run out of town! And lose your tenancy.

We have two bee hives on are allotment and they struggle because we are surround by houses and marsh land so very few flowers.

So I have just ordered £30 of wild flowers off this lot, it might be a disaster and might not.

OK have bordered off a part of my plot and have planted theses.

Interesting to see what happens.

I also grow Lavender and Comfeer that atracks bees.

Sorry Cee Cee spell checker not working

Sitting down in the sun today and watched all the bees and also wasps and also the bumble bees feading on my Rosemary bush

Natura is great

Not much blossom for the bees on my Rosemary :frowning: the weight of the snow broke most of the branches off but it is still struggling on as a single branch.

My rose did well this year.

My comfer is just about to flower.

Back after a month long holiday

Spent the first two day weeding.

To day just back from picking red currents and goose berries.

This year also had a great crop of unions, no white rot and big bulbs so it seems Jayes Fluid does work as the last two years most of the sets died

You’ll soon catch up again after your holiday Galty.
It is so satisfying picking your won stuff isn’t it.

How are your wildflowers for the bees going on?

Was stated that it will take 2 years.

Firsts results disappointing. Mostly weeds

Thing is do I weed???

Wildflowers are weeds.

Could you just pull up any thistles/nettles and … what’s the name I’m looking for, the creeping thing that twines round plants and strangles them?

Or maybe even compromise and make the area a little smaller and more manageable maybe?

That last weed is a devil! I’m forever pulling off yards of the stuff from my fruit bush and rose bush.

I may pick my jostaberries if goosegogs are now ready. They looked black and plump the few ones I looked at today, but had the dog with me but no receptacle.

any pics or are you just too busy??

Why would I take a picture of weeds.

Ok back for the last 3 weeks.

Madly watering in early Morning, to hot after 9am.

90% of strawberries have died.

Beetroot not bad.

Sweetcorn not bad.

Lost all but one of my cucumbers.

Tomatoes are struggling but the first truss are turning red

Tried to dig the rest of my Onions and Elephant Garlic up but could not penetrated the soil much to hard bit like concrete.

Forecast is no Rain for at least another month.

Terrible, isn’t it? Watered my onions and carrots this morning, and also my fruit bush, but don’t think it helped much.

The communal gardens, where I let Holly run about, is also like concrete, which I find difficult to lie on when retrieving her ball from under a hedge. Wish we had days of solid rain, but then again…all the weeds and grass would go out of control again on my own allotment.
