I think London is now more harmonious than at any time in living memory. The kids from all corners of the planet are integrating with each other at nursery school …
Or is there something going on I don’t know about?
I think London folk are more accepting of multi culturism because most of you have grown up with it. It’s sometimes a bitter pill to swallow here in South Yorkshire, and there are some very racist places. I personally believe it’s the person rather than race, and I get along with anyone, and find people from elsewhere or of a different religion to me interesting. But I can also see the reason for the racism in and around big cities here, when large areas are taken over and made no go areas by foreign settlers who group together and claim a little piece of England exclusively as their home.
There was quite a sizeable Greek community in Manor House in North London. I was sharing a flat in Green Lanes with my girlfriend and some student buddies back in the day.
It was pretty much just a stones throw from Islington.
Some of the bakeries were superb! An amazing variety of breads available. The smell was wonderful as you walked in , that was before actually eating anything
Knocked spots off yer Hovis and Mother’s Pride!!!
Ah yes Chilli…Hovis…
A good old Yorkshire Brass Band…
I always thought it was filmed on the steep hill in Harworth…Apparently not…And directed by ‘Sir Ridley Scott’ …Who knew?
I have a vague recollection Foxy , something about one of those young Hovis lads in the adverts growing up, becoming a skinhead and giving someone a kicking .
Got a custodial if I remember correctly…bread and water, the irony!
Just something I read in the paper
Lads from The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, filmed in Shaftesbury Dorset, pretending to be a proper Yorkshire tyke from a rough mining village.
You can say that again Chilli! My office was near Piccadilly/Leicester Square, so I used to pop down there sometimes during my lunch break to get an Italian type of sandwich.
