More Friends Online or In The Real World?

Absolutely.

It comes as no real surprise that when I’ve actually physically met online friends, we get on like a house on fire and can chat at length about many things (and, of course, other members without fear of hell and damnation being cast down by mods/admin etc :rofl:

There’s no doubt that you and I would have a whale of a time if we physically met. Who knows? Maybe one day, eh?

And I for you foxy :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

I’ve been watching and commenting on some YouTube channels created by drone fliers who have been making daily reports on the progress of the repairs to canal breaches.

Mrs Dex and I went down to Whitchurch earlier this week to see the breach for ourselves, and I bumped into one of the drone fliers whilst there.

No surprises that we got on well and, like when we met you, it took much effort by Mrs Dex to drag me away. :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

Shared Topics. Phraseology and Sensed Similarities: the limited Benchmark.
Limited.
Due to Subjective topics and the inevitable Mood Swings. We all experience.
That don’t necessarily impinge on continuing the “Acquaintance”.

You forgot to mention the aurora that surrounds a person QeS, that makes them instantly likeable or not…A sort of uncomfortable feeling in their presence. It can even be sensed from a post…or several that build up a picture.

I have made a couple of friends online, who remembers pen pals?

Wow that’s a Trigger down Memory Lane.
After D-day. We were encouraged to sympathetically communicate, As a Pen Pal. Similar youngsters in Europe. Who had actually been invaded.
For two years exchanging letters with a Dutch boy in Eindhoven. Each visiting the other once.
Both keen swimmers, pool racing each other was always a fixture. He always won.
Approaching 16yo, phased out. Losing contact
Fast forward 6>7yrs.
On a SEATO Trot in the Straits of Johor. It was traditional that on any moored ship the Deck Watch would form and salute any ship, as it passed to its own mooring.
As an engineer, rarely involved. Happened to be on the Main Deck.
Lo and behold. Dutch Frigate passing.
Very surprised but almost instantly recognising Pieter.
At attention and saluting.
Myself at another casual position, able to wave.
From Naughty, naughty Pieter.
His salute. On the Wide Up and Short Down Protocol Was more of a Five Finger. Hello Wriggle. On the way down.
What followed ashore during the next two days.
A Hilarious ReRun. Of those Pen Pal days.

Yes, that’s what Real Friends In The Real World are.
However old or great the distance.
Remain/Remembered. “True Friends”.

I always had pen pals, and when I first started using these sites, thought online friends would be the same, they weren’t….one of them passed my location to another member who lived near me, I got a long email telling me all her problems, health troubles etc. and asking to meet up for coffee

That’s why I never mention my whereabouts in my posts, my experience made me wary

Similar to Same here.
It used to be Take it or Leave it. Simple decision
Since the Digital world. Its more than offten.
Take It .
Plagiarise It. Distort It. And Use It.
For some nefarious pupose.
Small wonder we use N-de-P.
And less that obvious personal Identification’s. Randomly.

It’s sometimes difficult to decide who to let in, and who not to.
I only pass my email address to the odd member…The odder the better. They know who they are…
People who I would like to stay in contact with should the worst happen.
