Money, Money, Money, What would you do,

Greetings one and all,
Well im sure most of our forum members have heard that a lucky person in Ireland has won the largest LOTTO price ever given

Here is my question to you?
IF IT HAD BEEN YOU WHO WON 240 ODD MILLION ,
What do you think you would do with it?

And to add a bit of extra thought, Do you think it would be a good thing or a bad thing to win so much money ?

I WAS THINKING ABOUT ONE OF THE LAST BIG WINNERS A SCOTTISH POSTMAN & IT ENDED IN DEVORCE & A FORTUNE SPENT ON A MASSIVE ESTATE THAT WAS SOLD IN THE END at a loss to what he paid for it and the money spent (over 1 million doing it up)

Sorry for the capitals my pc is having a fit and the keys sticking,

Well away you go and lets share this dream spending spree :exploding_head:

(Such as No more Aldi thursday & Sunday cheap sale visit,)

Or I’d pretend I’d never won and the Roll’s was a gift from a friend, :innocent:

Come on dont keep me in suspenders any longer, It’s only £240 plus million,

Stopped playing, an old geezer don’t need millions, or dreams

I still buy the odd lottery ticket but, let’s face it, this expenditure is for people who are bad at maths.

You stand more chance of being struck by lightning twice than winning such a sum.

May the odds be ever in your favour…

It’s a huge responsibility to win such a large sum. Suddenly everyone wanting to be your friend. Desperate people contacting you with their problems. Having to rely on unscrupulous financial advisers to tell you how to manage it.

I think people see the champagne and smiles, but they don’t realise the flip side. I think it’s pretty bewildering and I’m not surprised marriages can break down.

I have very very rarely ever played the lottery because I’ve studied the maths. To have a chance at winning you’d have to spend quite a bit making multiple bids using various permutations every week. At least 50 lines.

Since I don’t do the lottery so there’s not much chance of me having to worry about champagne and smiles
On reflection I used to enjoy doing the football pools, there was something engaging about that, not that I ever won anything :volleyball:

But…if I did win the lottery I’d certainly go for a modest home somewhere quiet on the coast and certainly one of these…

As for all the new pseudo friends, frankly they could just sod off! :+1: Of course I wouldn’t forget my forum buddies. We’d have a little get together. I’d be lavish with the Asda cava… look after the pennies!

Perhaps Foxy might entertain us all with some ribald, bawdy Yorkshire ballads :+1: :notes:

In the unlikely event I won that amount of money - several local charities would have a huge anonymous donation. After that I would carry out some improvements to my home (don’t want to move) and as an indulgence I would hire a private plane and travel to see family in Australia. Then my relatives could sit back and patiently wait for me to pop my clogs and inherit what is left!

Winning too much money can make more problems than it solves.

You have to know what to do with it , for a purpose, otherwise it makes trouble.
I’d like to win. But not win loads. As long as my own future was pretty secure. I’d give my sister some.
After that I’d open a donkey sanctuary.

Oh definitely not! Just a high wall around my property to keep them out! One thing they can’t do, is climb.

The question often is “would it change your life?”
Of course it would, thanks, that is entirely the point.
But over £200m is silly money. Even if you fork out a few million for a splendid mansion and help out friends and family - you still would have way over a £100m left. With decent investment that would be giving you £3m - £4m each year … after tax. That’s something like £60,000 a week. Each week. How can anyone sensible spend 60k a week, every week?
Which makes me think if £200m is far too much then no-one ever should have over a billion.

I stopped doing the lottery when it changed to £2 a go and I’m less inclined to do it given the permutations of 59 Balls to win. But that didn’t stop me from wondering what I would do if I won a huge amount.

  1. Buy a new house, but nothing over the top, just comfortable and somewhere quiet.
  2. Buy a new car, but just an ordinary every day one, not a Ferrari or Lamborghini or anything.
  3. Give a donation to some charities such as Alzheimer’s and Cancer Research
  4. Give a donation to our local hospital to buy equipment and resources, but I would like a percentage to go towards any Doctors and Nurses facilities.
  5. Put the rest into investments and savings, leave it for a year and live off the interest.
  6. Buy a better camera than the one I have. :grinning:

@d00d … looking at those fiery young ladies you’d give yourself a heart attack :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

That’s a new type of bungey jumping harness right?

It would definitely be a good thing with so many things to spend it on. I’d donate most of it to medical research and/or items and people that would benefit from it.

I’d order a shroud with pockets so I could take it with me.

Haha brilliant choice!
