Michael Gove to ask cladding question in parliament?

I see Gove is to bring up the question of who pays for the removal and
replacement of the scandalously dangerous cladding that covers so many
multi tenancy dwellings in the UK??
This 4yrs after the disasterous Grenfell Tower fire !
There are calls for the tax payer to fund this work ?
Maybe we should initially, in order to finally get the work completed , but with
the proviso that the real culprits,( the cladding manufacturers and the
developers that commissioned the work) eventually cough up the ante via
some sort of special fund they pay into untill the work is completed ?
It is scandalous that tenants should be forced by the landlords to pay for
something they had no say over ?? Indeed some tenants have allready been
Conned into agreeing to allow this !!
I believe the legal inquiry has made a judgement that the manufacturers and
developers are the primary liability holders ? The delays now are to do with
the sharing out of the liability between the parties involved, which could take
years more if present progress is anything to go by !!
IMO the culprits should be happy they haven’t been imprisoned over this !!
Wonder what Govey will come up with ??

To me, a retired civil engineer, the answer is simple → Whomsoever deviated from the cladding specification is wholly responsible and IF the cladding has been up to and fitted as laid out in the specifications, then the specifier is wholly responsible. Contract law applies in all situations and without a genuine copy of the contract, I can only guess. Within all four corners of any contract, specification and schedules will be clear for anyone to see and should be adhered to in all circumstances unless a signed variation order has been raised AND accepted.

@ Long driver, Yeah, that’s what should happen LD ?
But the enquiry has taken
4 yrs so far, and is still ongoing !
So l expect the culprits have allready redistributed their assets and will now
appear penniless ?? or be non existent now !!
So it is going to be difficult to get “justice” ?
That’s why l favour the state ,starting the ball rolling, and then going after the
culprits later ??
The landlords are unable to run away so start with them subject to to the
law of course !?

I can’t see that being acceptable to tenants, @Donkeyman …another U-Turn?

I don’t see why the Government should pay up at all. It has absolutely sod all to do with them. All new flats, apartments and houses have a 10yr Buildmark warranty from NHBC or something similar provided by an insurance company. These provide the guarantees against shoddy workmanship and I suggest that use of under-specified materials is shoddy workmanship.

@Percy_Vere , Bloody great idea Percy, wish l’d thought of that!!
That’s exactly what insurance is for !
only thing is the culprits will get away with criminal negligence ?
I suppose that can be treated separately though??
I wonder why nobody has brought that up before ??
Hang on though, some of those flats were not new, that’s why they stuck
that flammable crap onto the the outsides in the first place ??

@PixieKnuckles , lf you are talking about the culprits going bankrupt pixie?
Of course the tenants won’t be happy about it !
But it seems to be normal practice in business ??
