Me too. This feels more “public”. Not sure whether there are private sections on here. It’s a bit “busy” too. By busy I mean like zig zag wallpaper. So it’s harder to find the last thread you posted to. I have a look in but it’s heavy going compared with the old place.
@AnnieS . The old place was pretty public too.
There are private members’ threads on here, akin the what we once had. Might be worth logging off to see what you can’t see.
Think there’s an old habit of seeing a thread/section with a padlock on it and assuming you no longer have access. This isn’t the case. It’s an indicator of privacy.
There’s different versions of public on the net. Some types of public are less visible on search engines than others.
Any category which has a lock icon next to it means it has restricted permissions (usually means members only) but there’s a specific ‘Members Only’ section here:

Tell you what is new. Every photo that is embedded is easy to filch now.
It even has the download option to help.
Am getting old. No idea what that word means!
Not meant as an insult, but I have not idea what you’re on about in the context of this thread nor any comments within. Sorry.
There used to be a very popular forum called topix. About ten years ago it was the thing. It was probably the biggest forum on the internet at the time. Then there were places similar to the old OFF. Topix posts easily appeared all over the net if you searched for a topic. Places like the old OFF appeared but it took far more effort to find them. They were and are far more anonymous. Topix also felt like it was information mining and slowed down my computer. Finally I left after I was hacked . I guess it was a good thing as it forced me to get a new laptop and hike up my internet security, but that’s why I prefer the old style forum format.
I am a monogamous forum poster, this is the only one I belong to, I came here from Friends Reunited which started off well but was completely stuffed up by its various owners. The fact that it is no more allows me to feel confident that mentioning it is not a breach of the rules.
To be honest I was really worried by the proposed change of software and initially struggled to understand it but now I am with @Dextrous63 and the old software is but a pleasant, distant memory (I thought this thread was going to be about Alzheimers).
As far as I am concerned the key is using the two right hand buttons of this trio when you first log in for the day:
Well, that’s what works for me.
are you venturing into the field of safeguarding?
There is no such thing as a free lunch.
I wonder if @AZZ could disable the download option, or right clicking, save as.? And for us members, just to be careful what we post I guess.
Sometimes I think back to how relatively simple the old forum seemed in comparison but onwards and upwards. One small gripe (I know there’s always one) there are a lot of what are essentially finished posts IE say what you see for instance, that seem to hang around. But that’s for the mods to sort I expect. Apart from that it’s just like riding a bike . Once conquered never forgotten.
Finding this site a lot easier to use. No more hassle uploading pictures and videos.
Ditto
