I like to think that the old fellow was reminiscing back to his younger days when he owned a car just like this

Oh what a shame, I didn’t realise that. Such a lovely shot.
But what if it had been a photo of a photo he’d taken back then?
That would have been OK I imagine, but it wasn’t
