Was looking forward to this programme on Sky Atlantic, about the scandals and dark deeds surrounding the reign of James the First, circa 1612. It stars Julianne Moore as a lady scheming to obtain power and status by any means. I’m afraid I found it quite dire. The acting was shouty and the good old F word got a fair old airing. The whole thing was like a soap opera, a bit like a 17th century Eastenders. One did’nt make it further than the half hour mark. When you think of Wolf Hall, I Claudius, The Six Wives of Henry the Eighth, and other brilliant historical dramas, this one is certainly not in that category. Some folks may love it, I certainly did’nt.
Thats what the button turn of for is M n G
Mary and George.
Scheming and plotting with racy pacey goings on in
the royal bedchamber …
Yes the language was fruity the nudity plenty
all wrapped up in a DocuBridgerton style
I thought it was well filmed and performed .
