Mark's Poems & Prose

Great stuff & clever use of repetition.

A lazy old day today
Not dun nothing much of anything - nay
But do I care that much you think?
Nope, feet up,TV and a little to drink

I’ve journeyed far though even so
Miles and miles but not stepped out the door
Killed dozens of orcs and goblins too
‘The Hobbit’ an old tale but still as good as new

What does that mean.?

Eh, if you don’t know who does? Didn’t you write it?

I must have done.

Lol. Been there and got the t-shirt  .

Lets face it no-one can teach you about poetic turn of phrase when you put your mind to it  .

Another night

I’ve shout my mouth off here and there
Spouted all sorts of rubbish without a care
But still as calculating as can be
Never letting my guard down - not me
The world is not somewhere to relax
Keep your wits about you - never be lax
It just doesn’t pay you see
I know as I am me

morning all

Life is tough,
We can’t forget it
What to blame,
What to credit
Just when you think
It can’t get worse
No need to quote
Chapter & verse
All around the
Dead & dying
No time for
Grief or crying

Yet man is born to trouble
As surely as sparks fly upward

There’s tired I am

Exercise is good for body and soul
Keeping fit is an admirable goal
But with the up there is the down
And such can leave you with a frown
As tiredness seeps into your very being
To leave you exhausted - without feeling
As I find my self today in fact
Falling asleep at times - whacked

Sometimes there is a need
For Blood Letting
If it Facilitates
A return, to Factory Setting.

Oh my these are poignant words
Which make me fidget as I sit
Contemplating this computer
And might I morph into a nerd

Trying to remember what an iambic pentameter is … or was

Nah … googled but still don’t get it

Why is it I need constant stimulation?
5 mins without causes consternation
And with idleness the Devil kicks in
And I go looking for trouble - a sin
Introspection don’t seem to help at all
Cos as soon as I relax he comes to call
Am I evil through and through?
Or am I just drinking the wrong brew?

The Brew

Add ingredients to the cauldron
Simmer gently, let it stew
When it’s cool enough to drink
Chuck the whole lot down the sink

This should clear any blockage.
However, if it doesn’t work first time … you’re stuffed

Voting in the General Election or not

Voting in the general election

The talk of Suffragettes got to me
Yet knowing my vote would not count
Those courageous women of an age, now lost
How could I not honour them?

And here we are, once again with a problem
Women suppressed and hiding through veils
Voicing that this is their chosen apparel
When all is down to suppression once more

if anybody would like to add a verse or three, please go ahead

I think I prefer rhyming couplets. Getting to be a bit too ‘arty’ for my liking.

Come back to the fold, dear person
It is a crime and is far worse than
Stuff wot I writing at this very time
See how it flows in perfect rhyme

Don’t worry about Rhyme
You may make a Blooper
Stop drinking the Wine
Make your Brew Super

Some women like to be suppressed
It helps to get things off their chest
With minds confused oh what to choose?
He helps me rise from out the blues

I feel so safe once in his arms
And love his kisses and his charms
But also his stern voice and slap
Upon my bottom with his clasp

He helps keeps my life in order
And treats me like a privileged border
He tells me how to clear my brain
And then releases me from his chains!

erm … well … not really

Very nice although a trifle confusing
