Bruce for me it is not what camera equipment cost but the pleasure in having and using it. That is worth a lot more. I never had a VXF1 camcorder by the way.

No it was a Sony AX53 . Ok as a point and shoot camcorder with little manual control over the settings. try setting shutter speed and say aperture to your liking and it would do it. Setting shutter speed and the camcorder adjusted everything else to that shutter speed setting, no override anything.
Alas old timers disease has taken hold of you: You had the Sony then a Panasonoic HC-X1500, then a HC VXF1 followed by another HC-X1500. You have documented all your purchases on this forum in great detail.
