London office market falls thanks to uptake of remote work

Are you seeing/hearing of more people doing remote work?

Will this impact the future of work or is this a temporary situation?

The same is happening here in a big way too. Regional house prices have also rocketed as people have found they don’t need to live near their employer’s base.

Office rents in the CBD of cities are being slashed as employers find they just don’t need the space they had before the pandemic. Small businesses such as coffee shops, sandwich shops, gyms etc that relied on these workers for their trade are in dire straits.

CBD = Central Business District

Supply and demand plus greed rules everything.

Considering the cost of a season ticket train fare from the south coast into central London, I can see why many have decided to either work from home, or change employment.
