The Austrian Government is getting tough on the people who have not been vaccinated. Can you imagine the rows if this was to happen here? More Countries may follow, ours included.
BBC News - Covid: Austria orders nationwide lockdown for unvaccinated
This will just feed the anti-vaxxers claim of police state; dictatorship etc etc. Vaccinations have been around for very many years…and for every different virus they are tweaked. Will our vaccination programme succeed? There are no guarantees…BUT if you knew you had a deadly contagious disease, would you knowingly pass it onto someone? I hope not!! So you do something totally unselfish to prevent that! The unvaccinated are totally selfish - so I agree with segregated lockdown.
I’m not sure as it’s getting tough on the unvaccinated as some kind of punishment but more that Austria haven’t done too well with the rate of progress in getting their whole population jabbed.
I think about 65% have been done … there’s about 2 million who haven’t been.
Apparently they can go to work, school, go shopping for essentials but otherwise stay at home.
Some might see this as eminently sensible.
I’m not against it at all, it may be the best way forward for us. I was just imagining the problems it would cause here if it happened.
Marching, Protesting, Screaming about rights ect.
Cases seem to be on the rise again in Europe so it’ll be interesting to see if it follows the same patterns as previous covid rises there … that came here.
I hope we haven’t allowed everyone to go off on holiday again … have we? I bet we have.
They had a item in the news on the rise of cases in Europe compared to NSW and it concluded that is was due to the throwing away of all restriction in Europe whereas here we still wear masks indoors and still have social distancing regulations for businesses.
NSW still has restrictions on unvaccinated people until the state achieves 95% vaccination rate or 15th December which ever comes first.
Unvaccinated people cannot cross the Victorian or ACT borders either. There has not been an increase in new cases since businesses opened up in late October nor since more restrictions were eased on the 8th November for double dosed people.
I got my Australian visiters visa granted today BUT it doesn’t mean I can go to Australia as AFAIK Australia hasn’t opened its borders to foreign nationals .
Anyhow it’s means 14 days quarantine ( would cost a fortune ) so I will wait for further developments . The website is very confusing .
It depends where you are going. When NSW opens to foreign nationals then there will be no quarantine for double vaccinated though you will need a test within 72 hours before leaving and you might need one after you arrive (not sure about that).
At the moment you can only fly to QLD (from NSW or Vic) and have to self isolate for 14 days after arrival.
Over here, it’s pretty much business as usual. Some businesses are mask only some are not. No one has asked to see my vaccine card. I still don’t go out unless I have to, or am going to a park or hiking.
