Life Tip to help with a frustrating situation

Remote control battery gone flat. No spares?
Simply spin the batteries with your thumb/fingers for 30 seconds whilst still in the remote.
This gives enough power for it to work until you get new batteries. :slightly_smiling_face:

More like cleans the end contacts.

If you have a phone with a camera you can test the tv remote by simply holding the end ( that you point at the tv) to your phone and you can see the infra red light through the phone’s camera, you then know if the batteries or remote are working…

These days if I have a dodgy remote, I break out my multimeter to test battery voltage and any current pull.

Many years ago, if I needed to check if a remote was working, I would hold it near the pickups on my guitar, turn up the amp and you can hear the clicking of the current flowing through the remote. Another method was to shine the remote into my DLSR, which is sensitive to IR light.

Just purchased one of these on eBay, pure magic for me. No more raking around on my knees looking in the battery store. Also contains a battery tester and was cheap.
