Leonard cohen

Terrific posts, Way and dodd - thank you - really enjoying all these
contributions

The original and the best. John Cale’s version was also very good, but modern copies are dire, especially her who won the X-Factor.

come on girl …

Aye Aye – another great!

I’ve really loved this thread. What beautiful words that man sings.
I like to hear him of course, but I like to actually see him singing even more - especially as he got older.
Something in his face, his expression, the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles . . . ooh lovely.

He looked very frail towards the end, and his voice weakened a little too. But he was still a very interesting and loveable man.

The only slight negative thing, I prefer him without that hat pulled down over his eyes!

Nice one!

Glad you are enjoying, Mups - me too - finding so many I had
not heard previously - although a fan of Leonard for some time…bring
them on!

Great song! What a performer!

Is it just me who finds that a sexy song?

Loved the musical solo too . . . well, all the music and the words. Nice words always make me melt - as well as the man himself. :049:

When he introduces his fellow singers and bandmates at the end of that, his lovely smile made me feel quite emotional.

I fought against the bottle
But I had to do it drunk
Took my diamond to the pawnshop
But that don’t make it junk

Another ‘Gem’ — enjoyed! Thanks for the post. He performs it
so ‘convincingly’!

I wonder if she knew what it was about

Gosh, that didn’t sound like his voice at all?

Was it when he was a lot younger?

That was from 1974, the same album as Field Commander Cohen

this is off his first album
