Leisurely Scribbles (part 5) (Part 1)

The length of the smile Robert. We used to get these little Sunny Smiles Charity books where you had to sell a picture of a babys or childs face out of the book.

They were always very cute, well dressed, didn’t look starved and seemed better cared for than we were so enough for a few of us to think about becoming orphans;-)

Sorry I have no time to read back.

Today is the Grand National, I was thinking of Jem. I will put a bet on today
Many years back in the nineties, I put a bet on, it was a famous false start.
I bet Jem can recall the year.

I remember those baby books Solo, we had them at our school too. It used to take me ages to choose the baby/toddler which I wanted to buy (donate to). Thinking about it now, it made us realise how lucky we were to have a home and parents.

Oh well, I lost my bet.

Well, there’s honesty for you, I think.

But that was at that time, never say never, there should have been a proviso.

Never on a Sunday???

Never on a sundae, you are cold and calculating.

My wine is cold, I am hot.

That may be a Flush, or a Hot Poker.:lol:

I am not feeling flush.
My horse lost.:frowning:

Was it really your horse, or someone else’s?

Trust you to be fussy.

The devil is in the detail.

So I should pay attention.

Yes, like, if you ever had Acne, you would be picky, and, eventually, you would be all over the Forum, like a rash.

Acne??? Where is your mind wandering?
You can always SPOT me a mile off.

Sorry, Acme, I was just scratching the surface.

I see.

I remember it well, it was in 1993, my son had backed the ‘Winner’ of the Grand National that never was, the horse was Esna Ness and the poor unfortunate jockey was John White, he was in bits when told told the race was void, if ever I saw a broken man it was John White on that terrible day. :frowning:
The bookies had to refund 75 million quid in bets that year.
The National was never a lucky race for me, I would avoid a bet it but join in as all the family would be enjoying the race, only once in all my years of having a flutter did I have the winner, Ruby Walsh on Papillon back in 2000.
