Good Night Possums.
John Boy has gone AWOL.
yes and there are some very VERY interesting things over the wall - you did say over the wall heh??
no they don’t have photos in museums just bones and fart it facts??
And so it was that we arrived back to the glorious summer of ’80’s. The summer rays seemed to soften the pain of return – or was that the whiskey and brandy snaps?
My MIL still remained close by so the kids elected to stay with her a while and I and the young wifie stayed with close friends and their toddler daughter No 1. We taught them the art of outdoor barbecuing, a HK past-time we had grown accustomed to? And so with our meagre assortment of belongings on the high seas we sat on deck-chairs and dreamed of fonder things! Tbc.
We really had no firmed up plans at all – HK govt had paid us a handsome gratuity which would keep us going for a few years. But then we grew restless – lazing around is not good for the soul! I was still comparatively young [21 ish] and with my craftsman’s background could still find work easily. So I found a local ‘job’ with accommodation and moved into a 3 bedroom apartment in the heart of Hants and work ready. Wot a bore!
But it was money coming in and easy peasy no get greazy? Ya know wot I mean? I had sold an immaculately polished Renault 16 on leaving for honkers but now purchased a clapped out Renault 15, but ‘beggars’ can’t be choosers – we wanted to conserve our funds as we still felt restless. And so we all settled into wot seemed to be a life we’d never left.
Kids re-engaged with school life, I to my artisans lifestyle and the young wiffie kindling the open hearth! We mostly just re-connected with old friends ; it seemed more comfortable to achieve! But I was still restless. We looked at homes to purchase and I was lured with the promise of future promotions but none of this prevailed and finally the decision was made – perhaps with a slightly heavy heart – the ‘swagmans song’ as did the song of the sirens lured us ever onwards! Again we had to prevail those final barbecues and fond farewell parties. I ‘tarted’ up the old Renault 15 and sold it on but this time the departure was different.

Anybody seen my purple and orange striped pyjamas? I know I had them here but I can’t find them.
Before anyone can help, it would be useful to know where you are.
