Over and Out.
bit early for bed ain’t it got the flu? - or a cuckoos nest?
I’ve been very busy arranging meetings between Trump, Teresa May and Kim Jung Il Supplying whiskey and firearms for them . No luck so far!
Mad fools.
Good Morning Possums.
Quote Gumbud: “but I am never sure if you are pulling our legs [metaphorically of course] could you put a little icon at the bottom to indicate whether it is true or false - like truey or falsie?”
Jaysus man yer getting very fussy in yer old age, don’t ya like guessing? be patient and I’ll hang out little flags for ya.
Alright then, if I’m making it up as I go along I will put a big grin at the end, if it’s doubtful but could be true I’ll put a question mark, and if it’s true I’ll just say -true. I can’t find a true or false icon anywhere.
But don’t blame me if I’m tempted to cheat now and then, sometimes i can’t hold back the devil in me.
That’s true about Agatha Christie, I have read an awful lot about her, one of the first complete novels I ever read was “And Then There Were None” of course it was not called that then, I’m not allowed say the original title in full but it was “Ten little N….rs” , after a while it was changed to “Ten Little I……s”, finally it ended up as it is now.
After reading that novel I became a big fan of her easy to read style, her half hidden sense of humour, her avoidance of sloppy love scenes and panoramic descriptions of places, all just good gripping mystery writing.
I got all her 80 paperbacks, including those written under the name ‘Mary Westmacott”, never liked those, mostly love stories.
I love your poem Ciderman.
Here’s the original Cuckoo’s Nest, great pint of Guinness to be had in the ‘Nest’.

oh shucks Jem and there goes Phyllis telling me that your a real don juan ; a true romantic as well as being a drunk!
I’m off now to the Barbers to have me mallet pared, all the schoolkids have left there by now and I should get seen to promptly.
heh Jem have you got a big stack of photos of all the pubs in Ireland you’ve drunk in?
Mate of mine just called me and said he’d bought a 3D Printer that can print Guns. I said so what, I’ve had a Cannon Printer for years.
Had one of them Cannon things myself Spitty, had to get rid of it though, they don’t make the balls for them anymore.
Reminds me. What’s the difference between a Giraffe and a JCB?
Well a JCB has hydraulics.
Strange you mention that Gummy, back in the early 1980’s I asked the younger brother, who is a keen photographer, to do a pub tour with me and take an inside and outside photo of all the pubs my father and me liked best in Dublin, also to record a short interview with the owners who knew us well. He kept putting it off and eventually I gave up, I’m useless myself with the camera, but I would have done well with the voice recordings, the important thing is to get the person to relax.![]()
It’s a pity because most of the pubs are now gone forever.![]()
One recording I’m glad I made was of my dear mother a few years before she got dementia, I had the voice activated recorder in my shirt pocket and she didn’t know it was there, after she got three ‘Snowballs’ down her I asked her to tell me about the times when she was a little girl back in Granby Lane, the tenements in the city centre where she (and me later) was born, delightful memories, she was in great form, all completely natural and spoken in a true Dublin townie accent, the family all have copies and treasure them, rest her soul.
Oh, Jem what a lovely post.
I just loved that, I really did.
I suppose I am lucky to have many videos of my parents.
I took my late Father, back to the East End of London, where he was born, I videoed all his family history, and I treasure it.
This place is so emotional, I’m scared to post:-(
Has the capacity to consider the unconceivable on Scribbles (Gumless) been lost?
Are you Un or In?
Where is Goody Gumdrops?
I think his Citizenship has been revoked.
I think his wife is keeping him busy.![]()
