What? Snow? No!
Snowflakes can cause a slippery slope.
forget all that Phd stuff on snowlakes or it’s use to denigrate people - the excitement of waking one morning, opening up the curtains and watching snow flakes fall gentle done [baring storms of course!] has never left me and four years ago it happened in the state of Victoria where I resided for a while. you can see it every year in the aussie snow fields - I call it God shaking off his dandruff - it is blessed and sent with love!
It is lovely to look at, but too cold to hold.

I , like JEM, enjoy recalling some of the old accounts of early days on this Earth
I particularly recall the account of Alexander the Great, the greatest leader and soldier the world has ever known.
that’s what he reckoned anyway.
Alexander was in awe of Diogenes, the greatest thinker the world has ever known.
from wiki, I’ve run out of puff
excerpt
According to legend, Alexander the Great came to visit the Greek philosopher Diogenes of Sinope. Alexander wanted to fulfill a wish for Diogenes and asked him what he desired.[5] According to the version recounted by Diogenes Laërtius, Diogenes replied “Stand out of my light.”[6] Plutarch provides a longer version of the story:
Thereupon many statesmen and philosophers came to Alexander with their congratulations, and he expected that Diogenes of Sinope also, who was tarrying in Corinth, would do likewise. But since that philosopher took not the slightest notice of Alexander, and continued to enjoy his leisure in the suburb Craneion, Alexander went in person to see him; and he found him lying in the sun. Diogenes raised himself up a little when he saw so many people coming towards him, and fixed his eyes upon Alexander. And when that monarch addressed him with greetings, and asked if he wanted anything, “Yes,” said Diogenes, “stand a little out of my sun.”[7] It is said that Alexander was so struck by this, and admired so much the haughtiness and grandeur of the man who had nothing but scorn for him, that he said to his followers, who were laughing and jesting about the philosopher as they went away, “But truly, if I were not Alexander, I would be Diogenes.”[8]

Quote RJ’s post.
"According to legend, Alexander the Great came to visit the Greek philosopher Diogenes of Sinope. Alexander wanted to fulfill a wish for Diogenes and asked him what he desired.[5] According to the version recounted by Diogenes Laërtius, Diogenes replied “Stand out of my light.”
Actually the last time I went to consult Diogenes of Sinope he asked me to “Stand into his light” He wanted to examine my hands, he took a long hard look then said:
‘You have a woman’s hand, milord! I’ll wager these dainty pinkies never weighed anchor in a storm." "Your skin milord. I’ll wager it ne’er felt the lash of a cat…” (Blackadder)
Remembering that from Brian Blessed to Blackadder, I took a long look at my hands, and yes indeed I have a woman’s hand, two of ‘em actually. I investigated further and found to my surprise that I also have a woman’s legs to boot, if you’ll pardon the pun.
Aww, bless em.![]()

ah lovely story RJ - out from the shadows of the poets section heh? - and don’t be afraid of wikipedia ; why there is a well known orator just a stones throw away on a lonely beach who is rumored, strides in to meet his rag tag students [high school ] with a hard bound copy of wiki under his arm and is known to read from it verbatum ; that is sitting on his bum reading it - his students are often heard to exclaim hello sir we see you are hard bound again?
“climbing the mountains of Heung Keung”
Part I – there are 129 mountains listed [wiki- wiki – wiki – the lecturers almanac] I think I climbed four in all – well two by hands, feet and bumps a daisy and the other two by car for three quarters of the way and then by feet. Nine of them surround Kowloon thus the name gau [nine] lung [hill] ; however there are only eight in fact as the ninth refers to the emperor bing sung from whom Bing the crooner chose his name! [I put that bit in for Jem]. Tune in for the exciting Part II – our first adventure into the hinterland of the New Territories and the climb of Tai Mo Shan [957 m] If you don’t wish to then go and read ya Wikipedia instead; it’s much more confusing!
