Leisurely Scribbles (part 5) (Part 1)

Jem…if I may, good sir?

An ‘era’ per-se tends to be a period of time we inturlekchalz think of as having certain [usually geological] happenings or incidents, which change the habitat-and therefore the creatures-in a permanent way…
ie; the ‘Paleozoic Era’ lasted an approximate 542 million years, forming the Himalayas,Alps and separating the Eastern Russian Peninsular from what is now known as Alaska. Then came the ‘Mesozoic Era’,lasting approximately 252 million years…during which the Balkan Sea was formed, as were the Mediterranean Sea & the English Channel…[yes, you froggy sods,it’s ours!]
{Ahem…sorry}…and currently we’re enduring the ‘Cenozoic Era’ which has so far lasted an estimated 66 million years - it’s the ‘current era’ and has seen changes such as the emergence of mammals, the dying-out of non-avian dinosaurs [‘Cenozoic’ actually means ‘‘New Life’’] and is of itself made up of three periods, known respectively as the Paleogene (66 million to 23 million years ago), the Neogene (23 million to 2.6 million years ago), and the Quaternary (2.6 million years ago to the present)…and I shall now STFU and go arapidly in the general direction of ‘away’,as I’ve just read through and realised just how bloody incredibly boring I really am! [Even when typing with one hand!] Sorry…won’t do it again…honest…

Pugsy you are NEVER boring my lovely.
You just remind us of everything we learnt in school, but then forgot.
We always miss you silly Billy. X

Sorry hon…not feeling overly bouncy atm…MORE fkn needles in me last night.
You’d think the tw*ts could replace a simple wristbone and a few pins without all this crap. Laters, hon. [sorry-really ain’t up to laughing atm]

I understand Pugsy. X
Make sure you eat my lovely. X

that would be lovely - I’ve always wanted to show someone around ‘honkers’!

Well let us see how much compensation I get for my accident. Court papers have now been issued. Both Camden and Westminster.

you are such a very generous body!!

All skin and bones me. X

My God Gummy you certainly got around in your day, it was my late brother who had the traveling bug, I was always the homebird.

I always enjoy your explanations Pug, thanks for that.

I also came across a place in India called ‘Spitti Valley’

It’s amazing for a species that has inhabited this planet for such a short period of time, to speculate what happened millions of years ago, when none of it’s present inhabitants have completed one lifetime yet.:lol:

Or have they??///

Are we talking Deja Vu here Spitty?
One has to speculate to accumulate

Some folks take too much notice of Hearty Facts.:lol:

Guess it’s true, I’m not good at a one-night stand
But I still need love cause I’m just a man
These nights never seem to go to plan
I don’t want you to leave, will you hold my hand?

Oh, won’t you stay with me?
'Cause you’re all I need
This ain’t love it’s clear to see
But darling, stay with me

Why am I so emotional?
No it’s not a good look, gain some self control
And deep down I know this never works
But you can lay with me so it doesn’t hurt

Oh, won’t you stay with me?
'Cause you’re all I need
This ain’t love it’s clear to see
But darling, stay with me

Oh, won’t you stay with me?
'Cause you’re all I need
This ain’t love it’s clear to see
But darling, stay with me

Oh, won’t you stay with me?
'Cause you’re all I need
This ain’t love it’s clear to see
But darling, stay with me

I’m not in love
So don’t forget it
It’s just a silly phase I’m going through
And just because
I call you up
Don’t get me wrong, don’t think you’ve got it made
I’m not in love, no no, it’s because
I like to see you
But then again
That doesn’t mean you mean that much to me
So if I call you
Don’t make a fuss
Don’t tell your friends about the two of us
I’m not in love, no no, it’s because
I keep your picture
Upon the wall
It hides a nasty stain that’s lying there
So don’t you ask me
To give it back
I know you know it doesn’t mean that much to me
I’m not in love, no no, it’s because
Ooh you’ll wait a long time for me
Ooh you’ll…

Sea Tales from Old Hong Kong

Hong Kong Island is surrounded by another 365 other islands most of them uninhabited. But this scenario makes for hours and hours of pleasurable sailing. There are many sails of different shapes and sizes – I mainly sailed a light weight racing dinghy called an Enterprise [12 footer] around HK harbor most Saturday afternoons with it’s owner a GP friend of mine – finishing up with a warm shower and glass of beer in the Royal HK Yacht Club of which I was NOT a member!

More rarely I sailed when luck came my way on a 37 foot cruiser with large sails and its own engine which could disappear in the blink of an eye!
One week I got a call from a marine engineer mate whose son was coming out for a few weeks from UK to stay with him and he wanted me and my son to make up a small crew of four to take out a 37 footer around some of the 365 islands. ‘Done’ says I with always a weather eye open for any opportunity for adventure away from my boring govt weekly job.

He picked me up on Saturday morn and we took off for a 30 min drive around to one of the dozens of smaller yacht clubs. He had borrowed the yacht from another mate and the boat boy allocated to this yacht and many others took us out in his runaround aluminum craft to the yacht.

On board we clambered armed with esky of beer cans and some homemade sannies. A nice breeze was about – quite keen and we took off without a care in the world and each of us ‘lads’ taking turns at learning to handle a 37 footer instead of a 12 footer. The big yacht was much more fun and strangely easier to handle. The warm summer day turned into a relaxing beer guzzling cigar smoking nautical afternoon. We had lost all track of time and weather until?..to be contd!!

Love your stories of the old HK Gummy.
How did you get into the Royal Yacht club?

walked through the front door??
