Ah! Sweetie Pie how refreshing to see you again, fine girl that you are, where do you get the energy for it all I ask meself.
To me, leisure is one of the few benefits of retirement and to be able to do things “at your leisure” is a sort of asset, even the word leisure has a lazy ring to it.
Taking it easy as in that old Noel Purcell song:
“Dublin can be heaven, with coffee at eleven, and a stroll round Stephen’s Green, you’r a King and the lady’s a Queen”
Many’s the stroll and roll I had with my Queen on a sunny Summer’s morning. God be with the days.
I see there’s talk of messing about with the pension system over there, what’s “the triple lock”, a new type of chastity belt?

Now this ain’t Noel Purcell I’ve never heard this modern version before, quite a unique voice this girl has I like it and I’m sure my Mother would have too, it was her party piece.

Finding it difficult to get used to the new forum.
lovely voice ; lulling ; no wedding ring and a bit broad in the beam but I could handle all of that! It would be nice to all catch up in Dublin in particular - lovely place - but would it break the spell I wonder? yes our carriage is pullin along slowly with two of our favorite ones missing good story tellers in the own right and one a bit of a good poet too. How I still miss them so the auld place just don’t seem the same without them. The last time I was in Dublin I was with my brother and he’s passed over now - all the good ones seem to go first. No spooty I’m not sayin ya a bad one - just a bit screwed up loik! runnin around on a lectric putters!!

Well Sweetie that’s the nature of the man, Gumbud always had a heart of gold beneath the rough exterior, always thinking of others, not a lot of his type around unfortunately.
Having nothing to do yesterday i was going through some old papers, I got a happy memory when I came across a simple but happy note I had written to my son who was working in Rome.
It was the time my mothers’s dementia was slowly getting worse, here’s the copy of the note to me son.
“Hello Ma”
“Who’s this?”
“Jmmy”
“I thought you were in Rome?”
“No Ma, that’s young Jimmy”
“Who’s minding him?”
“He’s minding himself, he’s 25 now”
“Yes but what’s he doing in Rome?”
“Kissing the Popes arse, he’s a very devote catholic you know!
“ May God forgive ye”
And she hung up laughing, it was great to hear her laugh like that again, it made me happy an sad at the same time, ah, memories to cherish.
Used to love Dwaine Eddy guitar playing, especially this one.

Used to listen to Duane, he had something in that time and place, you could get away with murder with a good pedal board, back then.
and to think today we have the technology bit expensive atm but will get cheaper of you being able to talk to ya ma still. However it does necessitate you old ma being first questioned by a team of cheerful kind and dedicated technicians with irish accents and technologies - this is then kept on disc or whatever [spittie will confirm] and after she has gone on you can sit and talk to a screen with your active mother on it and ask her certain questions and she will respond appropriately in a natural fashion as she did when she was first asked hundreds of similar questions years back and filmed doing so - the technology is available now. bit scary but once ya get used to it and \i have watched it in production on a doco it can be fun! spits spit it out!! its magic

It’s good to see missus Pie back again. You have been missed.
I’ve been busy by here in deepest, darkest Somerset. Punky Night fizzled out like a candle in a mangold wurzel. I blame the American halloween influence.
Bonfire night went out with a bang. Luckily it didn’t bother our little doggies.
I’ve been getting the house ready for winter and making preparations in case of blackouts by installing non-maintained emergency lights that come on as soon as the power goes out, as well as wiring in a standby generator to keep the freezer and stairlifts going should the worst occur.
Unfortunately, I’ve gorn and done my back in so fitting the last two lights will have to wait.
I’ve also been trawling through information about how to present my book to a literary agent to see if I can get it published. There are about 400 in the UK, so I have a bit of work to do.
As for Dublin, I took the family there a couple of times and we all enjoyed it. Guiness infused steak pie and chips at the St John’s Gate shrine, I mean brewery, was most excellent.

there was a time when this thread ran hot most days - we seem to have been in the chiller for a long time now that’s why everyone looks frost bitten and almost unrecognizable but wait under all that ice and snow dust I can just make out an irish elf from Dublin and a mad crazed max from Worcestshire and even an half irish colleen from Brighton or thereabouts as xmas comes again we wish or long gone but not forgotten friends included Bob the poet and the mad musician and general trades man from the Shetlands and of course not forgetting the two Queens of comedy Sweetie pie and Solo we do miss you all and I see your markladyships have not improved and you keep missing us!! now can we get this tardis thingy goin proper again now we’ve got a good gas man fruitcake bakin again!
