lovely pic fruity did you say you’d been out there once or not? few years back couldn’t have taken out thataway a bit but now like all the creature comforts - doubt if its standin heh? - but could be - we have whole ghost towns that all empty after 6pm when tourists leave and the ghosts come out - bush ghosts that is like the bush turkey!

Sadly, I think I have left it too late to go out and look, but R Mar went in the eighties and the bungalow was still standing with most of its tin roof still attached.
The old farm was swallowed up along with many others to make a much bigger farm estate. The owner was driving out the main gate in his Ute and stopped to ask my mum and her cousin if they could help. Mum explained she was looking for the old farmstead and showed him the photos her dad had taken.
He immediately changed his plans and took them back to meet his wife and then drove mum out to the old place where she wandered around in awe of her old home and took some photos to compare the then and now aspect.
so fruity did ya Ma ever tell ya many of her recollections from outa thataway or was she to young to remember? it often seems like a very romantic lifestyle but in truth it was harsh too! and yes the country folk are always hospital and will go out of their way for ya!

She was eleven when she came to England, so she remembered quite a bit about her life down under and the older she got the more she talked about it.
After my gran (mum’s mum) died, we found a suitcase under her bed full of photos, negatives, and WW1 postcards.
If only we had known beforehand, we could have asked her who the people were in the photos as my mum could only confirm some of them.
Apparently, my grandad had a Box Brownie camera and that’s what was used to take many of the photos we found including the ones I posted.
