@ Fruitcake,. A slight digression from the subject of human faeces !
I saw some time ago an article which proposed that ,human corpses,
(at least its topical! ), Could be disposed of by placing them under a transparent
cupola, which would raise the temperature well above ambient thus
accelerating the natural cycle of decomposition ?
This would be further speeded up by the fact that the cupola was open
to the soil !!
This system would consume no energy at all, the only by product would
be a few bones, presumably glue factories would pay for these, which
would pay for running of the system ?
It seemed such an immaculate answer to a big problem to me?
youāre talkin about my ancestors u backwoods man - mind you I do hear on one of my million grapevines that some do request a forest grave with a small gathering around the tree and I think they mark the tree with fairy lights so ow they can find it in the dark! droolin druids maybe?
@gumbud , Yeah, thats true gummy, but meself l fancy a watery grave!
saltwater preferably, l hear its good fer athletes foot ??
athletes feet ? they tread water donāt ey??
@gumbud , Some tread water!
Some tread grapes !
Some tread mills!
Others tread shyāe,. Fort for the day ??
watched one of my favourite films today :Fried Green Tomatoes - if youāve never seen it well worth a watch - early deep south usa; klu klux klan times but plenty of humor; and pathos and at the end plenty of tears - well worth a go!
poor old leisurely scribbles - people have got no more leisure and have forgotten how to scribble ? I can remember the days when there was steam coming out of this place for 17 hrs a day!! gotta sleep sometimes?
this evening I watched two ruby shows - the creation of the rolling stones and their introduction of the blues to uk and the rest of the world but with a sorta rock basis. Mick Jagger admitted on camera that if it hadnāt had been for the beatles advice and help they would never have made it. But the beatles went somewhere else with their music whilst the stones stayed true to the blues? followed by the life and times of freddy mercury ; from a shy school boy to his mercuric fame and death from aids. Strangely enough the other crazed blues creation EC was never mentioned but he was around at the same time and I think would have crossed musical paths at times
@gumbud, Ooo. was EC gummy? I bin racking me brains about this but canāt
seem to get it ?BTW, I AVE bin scribbling a bit but AVE bin puttin em in
sumfink called docs or summat ? Maybe l should scribble summat for
the scribblers too?
be true to thine own self? - EC eric ???
@ gumbud , Ooooer, wouldnthat be eccentric then gummy ??
Another tale of drunkenness as I mentioned previously.
I used to be a shift worker and would sometimes have a drink before starting work in a pub near the manufactory.
On one occasion there was a chap, spark out on the corner bench seat. Every five minutes or so one of his mates would sit him up, make sure he was still in this world and not the next, then gently let him lie down again.
Time was called, and then some ten minutes later this chap surfaced and shuffled over to the bar. He was incoherent and could barely stand, but it was obvious he was trying to buy more booze but was given short shrift by the barkeep.
Eventually he got the message and staggered out the door and across the corridor into the Gents. The corridor had a glass wall so my colleague and I could see what happened next.
After some minutes this chap reappeared from the bogs, took a step forward towards us/the bar, staggered to his right, then fell backwards through the door of the ladiesā powder room. Seconds later, two young ladies came out of the lounge bar and entered their domain. Minutes later they came back out again, followed another minute after that by the drunken chap.
The ladies must have had to step over him to get to the porcelain palace, and possibly had to do the same upon exit.
Eventually his mates escorted him out.
My colleague and I headed to wark after that, having thoroughly enjoyed the free cabaret.
@Fruitcake , l only ever got drunk like that the once Fruity ,
It was when l was in the army in Cyprus, l had been to this Greek night
club across the road from our tented camp just outside of Nicosia, all l
can remember was sitting alone in this club with me rifle propped against
the bar,( it was during ( the ā emergencyā we ad out there).
And then waking up sitting on the long drop kharzie we had to use there
with me rifle still alongside me at sunup !
These kharzies were communal and in a row of ten or so and were open to
the sky and other squaddies, ( most undignifiednl fort)?
I had no idea of how l got there? But there was a strong smell of aniseed
about my person !!
I made onto parade BTW!
Ode to Jem
Youād never recognize the room.
The pictures all have different frames now.
And all the chairs are rearranged now.
Somehow, Iāve thrown out every souvenir.
Yes, thereāve been changes made
since you stayed here.
Youād never recognize the street.
The neighborās kids play different games now.
The colors in the trees have changed now.
Strange how Iāve hardly thought of you this year.
Yes, thereāve been changes made since you stayed here.
The same address, the more or less.
More happens, less matters, I guess.
Youād never recognize my life.
The party-givers know my name now.
And when I cry itās not the same now.
Somehow, I never waste a single tear.
Yes, thereāve been changes made
since you stayed here.
Great stuff Gumbud, you have that special spark that ignites every now and then.
Iām just too old now for fresh posts, think Iāve said enough anyway over the past 12 years so you might say Iām more of a reader now than a poster.
Thank you all for your wonderful tales and experiences and please continue them at your own leisure.
Whenever scribblers appear here
Thereās always something fresh to hear
So like a true fan,
i drop in whenever I can,
Itās all music to my ear. Jem.
Iām sad to read you are taking a back seat now Jem.
I have really enjoyed your posts over goodness knows how many years but Jem but we all eventually reach that decision including me.
Just want to thank you for all your input into Over 50s over the years, I have enjoyed reading them all.
Wishing you, Phyllis and your family all the best for the future. x
Hello, one in one out apparently
some may not remember the beginnings of all of this topic - goes back many moons. But I often imagined Jem as the ships captain on a vessel in a perpetual storms - he just hung onto that wheel come hell or high waters. there were poems and statements and theories and theorems coming from all angles you could almost see the steam rising. We had people called Pug and RJ and Spitfire, myself, Jem and from time to time people would drop by but not stay too long and there was a couple of young ladies whos name escape me know. So there was a real jamboree and a right old barbecue. Steam risin and curses cursin! but all in good humor. Some have passed on we hear and we rise our caps to those if yuz ever have time to go back to leisurely scribbles part 1-5 ya may get an inclin of what I;m sayin - yes fruitcake you dropped in occasionally in those times too and good to see ya now.
Yep Gummy you have to separate to assimilate
