Well, we can only blame the people.
just wanted to clarify - if you are ânormalâ when you start and then develop âsavantâ skills then you remain your normal self but with extra skills - neat heh as a concept - extra skills can be permanently added to the brain ? - this is exciting new word stuff that we oldies definitely need heh - put me down for it!!
Wormholes are a very interesting subject, I love wormholes and wish there was one near me so as I could try one out, why only this morning I says to the wife âDarling, would you âmind if I found a worm hole at the bottom of the garden, climbed in and buggered off for a few weeks?â
âBe my guest dear, if you want to act the maggot I wonât stop you.â
âIn the Emerald Isle, if your friends are getting rowdy or making a fool of themselves, youâd say they are âacting the maggot.â This phrase could also be used to talk about anything that isnât acting properly, like if your phone is on the fritz or the trains are running way behind schedule.â wiki.
Actually I read somewhere that wormholes are trails of gas billions of miles long and heading out in all directions, this gas is released from huge black holes, in other words wormholes are black holes farting.
I think I should explain why I hate looking at holiday snaps, I mentioned this a few posts back.
Back in the 50âs my mothers youngest sister used to visit us in our modest council house, she had married a wealthy American musician and they moved to Los Angels to live.
She was a real good looker and she managed to ditch her Dublin accent very quickly.
Anyway she came home twice a year armed to the teeth with paper wallets of photos she and him had taken on their holidays, in the States, Africa, Australia and the devil knows where else.
My Dad was in hospital for most of those years (TB) so we would all sit around the kitchen table after the tea things were cleared and Auntie Sally would take out the photographs and one by one they were slowly passed around, my brother and me were about eight and ten at that time and were mortified looking at her standing beside her car in the desert, him standing by the car in the desert, her at the top of the statue of liberty, him at the statue of liberty, they always took two of everywhere they went so it was double the agony to have to keep saying over and over again âThey are lovely snaps Auntie Sallyâ
The only good thing about enduring all this torment was that she always gave the brother and me a dollar when she was leaving, it was worth 7/6 in LSD and we gave this to the mother who returned two shillings each to us for the pictures and lots of treats.
Still the mental damage had been done to us boys, weâve had holiday snaps drummed into us so much that we developed a hatred of them forever.
Thatâs my holiday snaps story, sad but true.
I used to like this song by Joe Brown, see you all soon.
yes the damage thatâs done by so many uncaring and caring parents - small or large - the damage that is not the parents! they say that having children is a god given event and pleasure - well please show it by caring about them and not interfering with their god given growth!! we all loved da he was kind ; gentle and took us out on treats - just a walk around da old 'Pool was sufficent but Ma was different hard working yes but no real time to get close to us kids - she was the disciplinarian in the family. so yes kids are God given - let God bring them up and thatâs not the catholic God or the protestant one either - heâs more like the santa claus one!
just watched the end bit of one of my favorite fillums Once Upon a Time in America - Robert DeNiro of course and James Wood etc - a look at gang development and action in the 20âs of NY. Music is haunting and fantastic ; acting impecable and they filmed several major events in other countries besides usa! a sad movie though with haunting musical scores. Old NY in the day - just at the time of prohibition and just after. Sex ; guns and jazz!
Yep, family members who think they have cut and run, not always their fault though, some are not born with the strength of character to see a story through, still, no excuse, battering folks with snaps of good times, just on the other side of the hill.
Some just think that they are better off and smarty and therefore can âlook down the noseâ show off their positions in life ; what we in the old days used to call âswankingâ - these poor souls should be pitied as their brains are very small and not so well developed as ours?
The thing is, folks are like playing cards, they only have one face to play, you can invert them but, the face remains the same.
@spitfire - well yes we do have to face up to those sort of faces but what if they have a poker face?
That is one of the long term dilemmas folks have to reconcile, it can take years for the realisation to hit home, just stop playing Poker!!
Fraid so Gummy, it may have been part of the Story.
well we wonât be putting you in charge of the boy scouts then?
That is good, I have no wish to, I have yet to discover a woggle.
everybody thinks it a special piece of uniform but itâs not itâs just they way they walk!!
Fillums whilst weâre waiting -I watch a good selection of favorites all free on tv channel. and if you miss the first part it often is repeated a day or two later, Today I caught the later end of one of my favorites:
Black Narcissus is a 1947 British [psychological drama] film written, produced, and directed by [Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger], and starring [Deborah Kerr][Kathleen Byron][Sabu] David Farrar, [Flora Robson][Esmond Knight], and [Jean Simmons]. The title refers to the [Caron]perfume Narcisse Noir .
great old style dramatic acting with much pathos - the scenery is stunning but probably artificial?
all I need is a shed like Jem ; box of cuban cigars and a bottle of bourbon and I am all well in the Himalayas??
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gathered 'round her
Minerâs lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
I hear her voice
In the morninâ hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivinâ down the road I get a feelinâ
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
aye just had to sing it what a sweet one in the day heh?
How did John Denver crash?
At approximately 5:30 pm local time, after a smooth takeoff from a Pacific Grove airfield and under ideal flying conditions, Denver apparently lost control of his Long-EZ aircraft while trying to switch gas tanks several hundred feet over Monterey Bay, leading to the fatal crash.how very sad - died
I believe Mr Denver was advised not to fly as the weather conditions he was expected to experience were not consummate with survival, but he ignored the advice.
Such a foolish loss. His song, Annieâs Song, is one of my favourites, even though it was a failure. He writ it in attempt to patch up his marriage. The divorce was acrimonious, and he ended up dividing assets which included hacking the marital bed in two with a chainsaw.
My favourite of his songs is Calypso.
For four and a half decades I believed the lyrics to be Hi Calypso, yet now I discover they were Aye Calypso. So many childhood dreams have been dashed when the truth has been revealed.
