Can you explain a bit about the picture please?

Where was it taken?
Were you at a bird sanctuary?
What were they trying to do to it?

adjusting the jesse at a bird of prey rescue centre

What stops the Jesses getting caught up in trees if the bird lands on one ?

if jesses were on pidgeons they would go COOOOO
Or even make a cuckoo go cookoo.
or on an owl screeching ooowsthat, what a hoot that will be
No problem though with a woodpecker

What is a jesse?

Bald Headed Eagle

yet another tip
If photographing birds in flight leave room in the photo for them to fly into. Do not have the bird right up against the picture edge

It’s a leather strap that the falconer attaches to the bird’s leg to secure it to it’s post. A bit like a dog’s lead.

Fantastic photos - thank you, Realspeed.

Brilliant shots. The low fly shot is amazing. These birds are magnificent . I once held one and I was in awe of it. If I can find the picture I’ll share it.

I do have several more bird photos
