I had the K2 version for a long time but my son Ben is always borrowing it so I let him have it.
Just ordered the K5 version with a little more power so see how much better that is
My karcher decided to take up smoking so I had to bin it, the motor was more expensive than buying a new one, I didn’t go with karcher, instead I went for an Ava pressure washer, it has lots of features and seems more robust than my previous karcher, very pleased with it,
I seem to recall we had to bin the karcher. It was rubbish. The Vax has lasted 8 years so far and still does the trick.
I have a Nilfisk 120.3 that works well but is rarely used. I still prefer to put the Patio Magic down once a year. Probably a not bad thing in view of water prices going up and sometimes shortages. I have the latest model Karcher window vacuum but I think the previous model was better.
I have a hose I can use from my water butt , it has a non return valve built in and a filter, I use it for car washing and try not to use the hosepipe.
Been checking karcher bits and pieces already have. Some will have to go as they are for the K2 model
Might get a longer gun hose depending connecting type and a thin wide nozzle attachment as well.
IBS, not good.
We have a K5 RS, Daughter won a K7, flogged it for ÂŁ280.00, someone got a bargain.
My karcher would not start one day. It was a few months since I’d last used it, and for years it has been fine. But this time, a few weeks ago, it was dead. All connected up but no indication of starting. I was checking on prices for a replacement when by chance I found a video clip - this chap said simply run water through the machine for 10 minutes - without power. Did that and it started perfectly when I’d fully connected. Something about bleeding out an air bubble.
Anyway, here in France I’ve heard people using karcher as a verb, “Je vais karcherer le terrace”, “heir, j’ai karchere le grange”. Just like hoover.
I saw the same video, and a great tip. I didn’t know you lived in France
I don’t like to use jets of high pressure water on the drive, it washes away the foundations.
I haven’t really found a use for a Karcher, or one of those leaf blowing things. They just blow stuff from one place to another but it’s still there…
Foxy, you can Spray that again
the leaf blower is useful for blowing leaves from confined places on a patio and saves you moving heavy pots around or damaging delicate plants with a rake. I have a rose overhanging the patio potted plants and it’s useful for moving the fallen rose petals and dust etc. The hoover function is also very useful for sucking up leaves and debris to throw out. Handy in hard to reach spots.
The pressure washer vs foundations etc depends on the quality of the workmanship of the pathway/ patio. Some patio layers might try to save money on pointing materials and pressure washing will soon uncover any such scrimping and saving.
it all depends on what your using the pressure washer for. I have a large brick block drive and a larrge paving slab patio behind the house. No way can either be cleaned easily and fairly quickly without one.
OGF if it washes away the foundations then there is something seriously wrong with how the drive was laid.
this is just part of my front drive. it extends more on the right . Light patches where weed killer was used
try cleaning that some other way.
Water prices have gone up and pressure washers use plenty of it. Most will use drinking/tap water via a hosepipe. Shortages could arrive sooner.
Mart
For me it is more a question of how long and easy can a job be made? try cleaning all the hard surfaces I have ie. drive-patio and garden path. No way can all this done by any other means.
Of course it all depends on how big an area needs doing. Having a large detached 4 bed house with double garage let alone 2 cars to clean a pressure washer is really the only option
tried the new karcher out this afternoon. the photo above was black with 1/2 inch of moss on the top, its still got to dry out.
Even I am amazed at the difference
Fair enough but I have to say this path was once black with mould (or whatever it is). No difference at all with Patio Magic at first but it works over a few weeks/months and then stays clean. I use it once a year. Not sprayed on but brushed, so not much water is used and just as quick as pressure washing I feel.
A few of our neighbours use pressure washers. I can hear the washer going all day and still not a better result as using Patio Magic in my opinion. We too have quite large areas of block paving at the front of our houses.
The only way the pressure washer does score over brushing on the solution is that the moss in between the blocks is not removed. Other than that, the Patio magic is an alternative to keeping down the mould on the block paving faces, slabs, concrete, sheds or fences without further effort. I have left it two years between treatment in the past but still the mould does not come back to a significant degree.
Patio looking better with a clean
Next are these
then the path other side of garden before even looking at the front drive
Sometimes I like to leave my paths to age and look more rustic.
