I had to think about this i even tested which hand I use…conclusion is I use both. I’m right handed when I write though although when I was younger I sometimes wrote with my left hand…I haven’t tried that for ages its easier right handed for me.
When I drink from a glass, my little finger extends ,from the hand i am holding it in,so funny, quite a few of my friends have noticed it, …they say ooh look, her pinky is waving at us,
Was left handed until I went to Grammar School, aged 10yrs. The nuns there thought that it was the sign of the devil - as in Left = Latin = Sinister!! I was made to write with my right hand- but I only did it in school - at home I still wrote with my left. Now, when writing, I am ambidextrous.
For most other things I still use the left - especially if what I am doing needs strength - opening jars etc., - but - when drinking tea/wine the cup/glass is always in my right hand.
Talking of strength, again I use my left hand to open jars etc…that’s an interesting one, ST…obviously my left hand is stronger than my right…never even thought about that.
Does it depend upon whether or not you need to stir the contents do you think?
Because I’m right handed (although I played raquet sports with both hands) yet I hold my mug in my left and use my dominant right to stir the contents, so when drinking I use my left to hold the mug if it has soup or chocolate which (for me any way) need stirring in between slurps.
