I woke one morning & found I couldn’t say a proper sentence. I kept jumbling the words up & when I tried to read a book the words jumped out at me & didn’t make sense.
I know there was something wrong & thought maybe I’d had a stroke as I know it affects speech.
I decided to lie down, try to sleep & see if it went away.
Yes it did - 2 hours later when I woke up I found I could talk normally again & understand my reading.
I typed my problem into Google & it came up with the simple answer - what had happened to me was caused by worry & anxiety.
This is true because I’ve had a lot of household problems to cope with & finally E-on sent me a review of my future power bill which was £1,700 more than last year. (The average increase is expected to be £700) Mine was £1,700 - £1,000 more!!
I have spent days online trying to sort this out & it had practically driven me to despair.
I asked my kids to help but they brushed it off saying it will sort itself out! They didn’t want to be bothered.
Anyway, I believe this is what caused the blip in my speech/reading.
Now you know how many dyslexics feel. Imagine that every day of your life if reading aids are not deployed.
I have a grandson with dyslexia and Asperger’s, so I know how he struggles.
Yes Carol, this happened to me quite a good few years ago, I was going through a very stressful period. I couldn’t get my words out and i was stammering… It lasted only a couple of days but it was alarming. I never went to the doctors, looking back, perhaps I should have.
I had forgotten about it but your post reminded me.
It might be a good idea to have a word with the doctor.
Maver-rik, This was my first thought too, that it might be a TIA?
Carol, l also think you should get it checked out. It probably is just something caused by anxiety but it’s always best to get some medical advice.
Being your husband’s carer, l think it’s important that you do.
Carol, l just wondered, did you get any zig zags in the corner of your eye? I sometimes, get those when l suffer a migraine with Aura. It’s usually, chemicals, or additives in food that cause mine.
