Jeopardy is Coming...yaay!

What is the most popular game show in the US? That’s right, Jeopardy!, the long running American game show, is making the jump to British TV.

The quiz, which asks its contestants to give their answers in the form of questions, first launched in the 60s. This isn’t the first time it’s crossed the Atlantic, as Derek Hobson presented a version on Channel 4 in 1983.

This new iteration will arrive on ITVX this Autumn, and will see Stephen Fry take on hosting duties. “In the United States, Jeopardy! is a phenomenon like no other. Whenever I’m in America, I do my damnedest to catch it every weekday,” says Fry. “The idea of hosting it here in the UK makes me dizzy with delight.”

That sounds fun. Fry will know so much more than the contestants, even without the answers he’s given.

I have often wondered why Jeopardy only had a brief flirtation with British TV.
I liked it when channel 4 did it…in the 4.30 slot I think when Countdown was between series and they hadn’t started 15 to 1.
Think they did a Scrabble series too.
