Jasmine Hartin’s lawyer says it’s unlikely the socialite’s charges will be upgraded to murder over the shooting of a Belizean police officer.
The 32-year-old, who shares twins with Lord Ashcroft’s son Andrew, is awaiting trial for shooting dead Superintendent Henry Jemmott, a 42-year-old father-of-five, with his own service pistol in May. She claims it was an accident.
She is due in court twice this week, once over the shooting and another separate case where she is accused of assaulting a hotel worker.
Hartin faces a manslaughter charge and her attorney Dickie Bradley told local media he sees no chance of a pending ballistics report changing that.
This case has taken many twists and turns with lives on all sides being damaged and exposed for scrutiny. There are too many details to include in this post but most are included in the linked article.
Jasmine Hartin this morning appeared in the San Pedro Magistrate’s Court with her attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley. Her appearance in court was due to charges of common assault and possession of controlled drug. She was to appear again in San Pedro for the more serious offence of manslaughter by negligence for the fatal shooting of Superintendent Henry Jemmott. As expected, the case was adjourned and Bradley asked the court for the adjourned date to include the other charges.
Hartin is due back in court on October 5 when full disclosure is expected.
