Jamie Wallis MP (Conservative, Bridgend) comes out as trans and says he was raped

Since this thread was already taken off track I will add my 2 cents.

In my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with being gay. It’s absolutely none of my business what others personal preferences are.

What I find VERY wrong is when people keep their true gender hidden in order to get the sexual gratification they are seeking from the ones they are trying to fool.

This type of deception is just wrong in every which way.

I don’t understand your post Bratti… :017:
How has the thread been taken off topic?

:point_up:Right here!

And if it wasn’t then, it IS now.
I’ll let you figure it out.

I’m sorry Bratti, I don’t follow… :017:
A bit of harmless banter with a friend usually occurs in most threads, and you could argue that Jamie has got more skeletons than most…

No worries OgF. It certainly wasn’t directed at you and of course all good conversations have some good harmless banter. That’s not what I was getting at.

Getting back to the topic of Jamie Wallis MP, his coming out was taking a risk but perhaps he realises it is better to be open about it than trying to hide it, especially now that someone has already tried to blackmail him about it.
People shouldn’t have to hide who they are, anyway, and if he was doing a good job as an MP, his transgender identity should have no bearing on him being able to continue doing a good job as MP.

However, he still needs to be held to account in the same way as any other MP. There has been a few things mentioned about his activities which don’t portray a picture of high integrity - such as his business dealings, both before and after he became an MP.
If he was a Parliamentary candidate in my constituency, I would want to delve a bit deeper into his involvement with those dodgy sounding companies before I would consider voting for him.

I think he took the seat from a long term Labour MP, in a constituency which has historically been a labour majority. It looks as if it was disenchantment with Labour leadership that had been gradually dwindling the Labour majority plus the “get Brexit done” vote swing in 2019 that got Wallis elected as an MP - whoever had been put in as the Tory candidate would have probably got in as MP in that constituency - and he got in by a very slim majority, so he may not keep his seat next time round - especially as he’s added to his own problems since he was elected, with his leaving the scene of an accident and earning himself a driving offence conviction.

I’m amazed that the selection committee either hadn’t performed due diligence or worse still had done and still considered him to be a fit candidate.

I’d vote the same as the majority:

We asked whether they were proud or not proud of the first trans MP being a Tory, or whether they were neither, or if they didn’t know if they had a view. 19.58 percent said they were proud; 18.68 percent they were not. So about 19 percent for either poles of pride or shame.

The far more popular response, picked by 59.14 percent of respondents, was neither. Rather than waving the blue, pink, and white flag, or fulminating into their favourite J. K. Rowling novel, most of our panel were indifferent to Wallis’ big revelation.

What can this tell us? Not necessarily that the announcement is unimportant. After all, there comes a natural feeling of satisfaction at beating the identity-obsessed Left at their own game. But it perhaps also suggests that the average Tory’s reaction (if there is such a thing) is one that should please any libertarian: they have little interest in an MP’s private life, and they are not opposed on principle to transgenderism.

A newly elected Conservative MP can be revealed as the man behind a network of controversial companies that his local council says have been subject to hundreds of Trading Standards complaints.

One of the companies run by Bridgend MP Jamie Wallis — a claims management firm — was prevented from representing customers at employment tribunals following a Ministry of Justice investigation.

He told BuzzFeed News the Trading Standards figures disclosed by Bridgend council were “nonsense” and said his family business was threatening legal action against his own local authority.

A Freedom of Information response from Bridgend county council in 2018 revealed that Wallis’ companies have been subject to hundreds of complaints by consumers to Trading Standards.

According to the FoI response, Trading Standards had received 137 complaints about Action Direct (UK) Ltd, 166 about Fields Data Recovery Ltd, 151 about Quickie Divorce Ltd, 26 about Rapid Data Recovery Ltd, seven about Field Associates Ltd and 12 about Injunction Direct UK. The response also listed enforcement visits by Trading Standards against several of Wallis’ companies.

Wallis told BuzzFeed News that he disputes the figures about enforcement visits in the FoI response and that his former company is taking legal action against Bridgend council over the disclosure.

A spokesperson for Bridgend County Borough Council said: “The council can confirm that it has received a letter-before-action from Fields Group Limited. This relates to FOI responses provided previously by Bridgend County Borough Council. Due to the possibility of ongoing proceedings, the council cannot comment further at this stage.”

I wonder what happened later …

Maybe he took one for the girls?

South Wales Police said Mr Wallis, 37, from Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, has also been charged with failing to report the crash, careless driving and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position.

Police said the alleged incident happened in Llanblethian, near Cowbridge.

He will appear in court next month.

In a statement, South Wales Police said it had been "been investigating a road traffic collision which happened in Llanblethian, Cowbridge, in the early hours of Sunday, November 28, 2021.

“Jamie Wallis, 37, from Cowbridge has been charged with failing to stop following a road traffic collision, failure to report a road traffic collision, driving without due care and attention and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position.”

Will Wallis plead “extenuating circumstances” …

(The A48 road traffic violation was, seemingly, a separate incident.)

Hi

It will be interesting to see what these extenuating circumstances are are.

If memory serves, Keir Starmer did the same thing a few months ago. Crashed into another car and left the scene before he could be breathalysed - I’ll see if I can’t dig the report out.

If you find it then start a new thread rather than go off-topic on this one please.

Hi

Here you go.

No action to be taken.

Nothing to do with the topic, though:

He may well be trans and if he was raped he has my every sympathy

But I don’t reckon the timing of his revelations is a coincidence and I think he’s just trying get off the driving charges by trying to milk the way we’re not allowed to criticise anyone who’s trans for anything at the moment

Hi

It was a reasonable response to a post on this thread which brought up the subject of Starmer being compared with this idiot Wallis.
