We may need to pay for our care, in old age, so, why do we need an independant pension payment?, let that pay for the care (from persons not from these shores) and leave the inheritance to the kids, a positive has to be extracted here ![]()
Useless devices! Required three people - driver, GPO technician and Post Office person
Couldn’t detect at the end of a Cul de Sac nor above the ground floor. Their main purpose was driving slowly and waving the aerials about. The next day the local Post Office ran out of licence forms
Like most things, they were of their time ![]()
Did the same people who designed that also design the model vehicles for Thunderbirds?
For those who didn’t have a TV licence, seeing one of these things driving up their road, must have terrified them… ![]()
It flippin worked though didn’t it?
They only had to put an ad on the TV saying detector vans were around and all the curtains twitched as terrified householders scanned the streets outside and the Tv’s went off.
False alarm, it was only captain scarlet defeating the mysterons.

The zenith of The Anderson’s productions in my opinion!

Worth paying yer licence money in those days…
I thought all the Gerry Anderson shows were on ITV as it was Lew Grade who first commissioned Thunderbirds…?
Yep!
But you still needed a license to watch ITV, as you do now.
Well I already knew that … ![]()
I can only remember Lady Penelope and Parker.
Let’s not forget……
Anything could happen in the next 30 minutes!!
Stingray, stingray….
It would have been a brave driver to have brought a detector van, onto the estate in the 70’s ![]()
The rabble made intellectual points without realizing it ![]()
