Is it just Jeremy Vine who don’t make direct political statememts as a broadcaster?
I’m known for watching a film over two evenings, even three! ![]()
I miss dvds and video cassettes, they give you more of a “real” feeling of watching a movie, appreciate it more, not to mention going out to the video shops to wander around and choose your entertainment for an evening or two. Part of the fun!
I actually bought some adaptors so I can still use our old dvd player and video recorder but I seem to have been infected by the “easy access” bug which is contaminating our society today, too lazy to fiddle about with wiring so I end up just choosing Netflix or Prime, having unfortunately fallen into the trap of being a streaming service subscriber! ![]()
We got rid of Sky, that was much more expensive!
Yes, watching films in installments has been quite a regular thing for me too… I’ll see if I can break the habit and watch a WHOLE film this evening! I think it might involve laying out a decent array of savoury snacks and a couple of beverages ![]()

Subscriptions can seriously mount up - it’s good to have a mini subscription cull from time to time! ![]()
I’m happy to say I’ve resisted the urge Rose. My reasoning is that because you’re paying to view, one must get value for money and view more often. Paying a licence fee just means it’s there if I want it and being an easily satisfied fellow there is always something on the terrestrial channels of interest. I usually end up falling asleep during a session anyway.
Absolutely zero TV’s in my home, only internet connected Roku’s playing via HD monitor’s. Its been this way since HS B’band came to my area.
We also have several radio’s but as they do not require a licence, this household has been TV licence free for some time.
Am with you on that. ![]()

Some tv series of, say, 6 episodes could quite easily be shortened down to a 90 min to 2 hour film. So, why not return the favour and turn a film into 5 or 6 episodes? ![]()

So we’ve heard ![]()

900 minutes of courtroom drama and much humour!
This was broadcast around lunchtime on TV back in the early 70s. Given some of the content I’d find it hard to imagine this series being shown on the box today…
I still have a DVD player & lots of DVD’s some never played. Really must start watching them, but its easier to just reach for a book, ![]()

If we’d had streaming services in the 80s/early 90s, this is one that I would have binge-watched, definitely! ![]()
I stopped watching that when Gray got away with killing his wife & Tina. I got fed up that he got away with it. Didn’t watch any more, seems he later tried to killer several characters.
I don’t know those characters, I didn’t get that far, I left the UK in 1993.![]()
Yes, the “New Romantics” almost forced ne to emigrate ![]()
We stopped watching it when it went all gangsta Rose. Probably about the same time you left the UK. Lots of soaps and programmes seemed to take a turn for the worse then.
I’m enjoying old reruns of Coronation Street and Heartbeat, and I love Midsomer Murders, must have missed them first time round.
We had it free for a time but I don’t grudge the £3.46 weekly cost of a tv licence.
Without me, they didn’t want to go on, so took a turn for the worse! ![]()
A long time ago I saw Lady Penelope’s pink Rolls parked opposite Holborn tube station.
Blimey d00d, glad i’m a Brummie, Penelope would never have ventured this far north ![]()
I don’t know what she gets up to in her spare time.
