Twelve hours wow.
You must have needed it Dreamy.
Sorry about your back. X
It makes the painkillers all the more tempting but these hardly work at all - I need to take more to get the same level of pain relief I used to have. Iām not addicted to them but have become accustomed to them. Some days I go without and just take one at night.
Dreamy can you not ask for morphine patches? My BIL had these.
Iāve got patches, quite large ones that I can stick to my back.
But theyāre definitely not morphine, itās some other drug. And they donāt work at all for me.
Iāve got my heat pad, but it too doesnāt seem to work and is uncomfortable on a mild day like today. Iām looking forward to using it in the Winter, though. No more hot water bottles for me. Iāve always used them but last Winter one burst open and it was really sore on my back and leg.
Ask your Doctor to prescribe Phentanyl patches for you - these really ARE Morphine based!!!
Yes, I agree with Joe.
Good idea, Iāll do just that. I donāt see her 'til the 10th but thatās only a week tomorrow. Iāve been taking extra Oxycodone tablets but they arenāt working for the pain, plus, I donāt want to get addicted to them.
Do let us know how you get on with them Dreamy. You are so right to be aware of addictions.
Well, Iām addicted to Valium but itās medicinally controlled; I donāt buy them illegally; my doctor prescribes them.
But they, too, seem to have little effect on me. Early on in my cancer treatment, my body was fighting so many things, my mind, also, so I donāt think I had any room for panic attacks.
Now, though, Iāve gone back to having a low level of anxiety most of the time and itās worse when Iām outside. Iām no longer so tired if I have to walk anywhere but I am more panicky hence the Tesco grocery deliveries.
The Valium seems to have no effect any more. Iām sure I would notice if I suddenly stopped taking them, but the prescribed dose has no discernible effect on me. Iām really waiting until after the PET scan and seeing the Consultant a week after before Iāll have a proper discussion with my doctor.
Iāve had the occasional glass of wine but only small amounts. It seems to relax me with food.
A good discussion with your doctor is exactly what you need. Valium? Not heard of that for years. I think the patches that Joe recommend are a good way forward for your back pain.
They sound good but I donāt think my doctor will prescribe me them somehow. Last time I saw her she was talking about looking to reduce my painkillers. Iāll have to put her right on that one though and express to her just how much pain Iām in.
Iām already looking forward to tomorrow when I pick up my weekly prescription because there will be a small bottle of liquid oxycodone which works best.
Well after a day of moderate to severe pain in my back yesterday I slept very well. The pain goes away when I lie down, but is there when Iām sitting, standing up or walking. I slept from 1am to 11:30 which is extremely late for my getting up.
Canāt wait for Thursday and my scan. Itās a little different as itās beside a hospital Iām not familiar with. But I have a map and the taxi driver will be able to find it. Because itās relatively far away, Iād estimate the taxi fare to be around Ā£20. Iām going to see if I can cope with getting the bus back. I havenāt been too great with anxiety lately.
Take enough money for a Taxi back home Dreamy, just to be on the safe side. Glad you had a good sleep, it helps.
Well, Iāll have my debit card with me. The only thing Iām not looking forward to is the hours wait after they inject you with the radioactive substance. They say the whole procedure takes about 2 hours.
Got to make sure I donāt sleep in again. Iāll have 3 alarms for 7:30 plus my neighbour who is going to constantly phone me 'til I answer.
Well, you are all organised Dreamy. It will soon be over.
I used to take vallium, but the body gets used to it, then it doesnāt work any more. I think that is the same with oxy.
I get panic attacks and I have to put a lorazepam under my tongue. Do you have that?
Anyway Richard, I am thinking about you and hope you do well soonā¦Blue x
I used to, many years ago, get lorazepam. They are great and better than valium as they have a long half-life.
Not long now Dreamy.
I have been thinking of you.
I slept well but deliberately got up early so I should sleep well tonight and be up nice and early for my appointment tomorrow.
Iām still going to have about 3 alarms set, though, plus someone phoning me. I still canāt believe I slept in last time my PET scan was due. And I know they are very busy and itās hard to get an appointment.
Today Iāll have a shave along with my bath and I have clean clothes for tomorrow.
Glad you slept well Dreamy.
I will be thinking of you tomorrow.
