The opposition isn’t the government of our country and their leaders and members aren’t PM
There is absolutely no comparison.
And defending keeping a PM who has proved himself to be a corrupt self serving liar who thinks the laws he makes for the country apply only to us peasants and not to him on the basis that the opposition aren’t perfect either is endangering all our futures
The rules prohibited indoor gatherings of two or more people. The police have confirmed that the fines handed out over this event were for breaching this restriction.
An exception was allowed if the gathering “was reasonably necessary” for work purposes. But we can assume the police did not judge the leaving event to have been necessary because at least one fine has been issued.
The “working safely during coronavirus” guidance at the time said only “absolutely necessary participants should attend meetings and should maintain 2m separation throughout”.
There is nothing in the guidelines that would suggest that drinking, socialising or other types of work event along these lines would have been allowed.
BJ broke his own rules just by being there and condoning the gathering - joining in, of course, only makes it worse.
There’s nothing to say the opposition or anyone else has to be pure as the driven snow before they can hold the lying PM to account
The important and vital part is that he is held to account because what he’s done makes him unsuitable and dangerous to have as leader of our country
Trying to prevent him being called to account by citing failings in the opposition and the rest of us asking for justice is just trying to protect him from that justice
Looks like even viewers of ITV are fed up with partygate:
Sadiq Khan appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the Elizabeth Line, which finally opened today. However, Richard Madeley was soon asking the London Mayor about partygate and new images of Boris Johnson, which were leaked by ITV News. He confronted Khan with complaints from furious viewers who want to move on from partygate.
Madeley asked: “What do you say to messages like this?
“This is quite a significant amount of messages we’ve had on this programme this morning. We’ve had a lot of people criticising Boris Johnson saying he has to go.
“But let me read out two because these are typical of the other side of the coin.
“Gibb on Twitter says in capital letters, ‘No one cares anymore. Stop with this rubbish. A few pictures don’t explain what was going on.’
“Steven on email, ‘Who cares? People were flaunting the rules all over the UK. Move on.’
“A lot of those messages of people saying move on, what do you say to those people who feel like that?”
Viewers took to Twitter to share their fury over the leaked images of Mr Johnson.
“THESE people were all working TOGETHER in number 10 to fight the virus,” tweeted Steven Hulston.
“It is NOT the same as someone having a party and inviting people to join them.
‘They were all in close proximity regardless, yes it’s in bad taste but they were already in close proximity. MOVE ON.”
“Had to turn off this morning. The constant it’s a party it’s not a party is wearisome. Move on,” Vicki Brown complained.
When it all goes quiet, and the folks who were denied access to dying loved ones unite, we may see change but, I doubt it. All this defensive chafe by the Hoi polloi beyond their station will cloud the issue no doubt.
This government has to go. The 1922 Committee must surely realise that every day the probability of re-election of a further term of Conservative government is now asymptoting towards zero. Thatcher was ditched when it was thought that the community charge aka poll tax (sadly) was so unpopular that it went or she went. Johnson is now even more of an incumbrance yet the Grey Suites seem unable to see it. This government is destroying the future for the whole country.
