Great place to visit but don’t expect to see it all in one day. When we lived in Italy it was always on our visitors places to see so we have extensive knowledge of the town but, for us, Herculaneum ( Ercolano) is much better preserved and, as such, more interesting.
If any of you do get the chance to visit Pompeii, don’t miss the brothels and their pornographic frescos 
I’ve visited twice but only for a few hours on those two days . I would like to return some day . The museum is fantastic . The pavements have tiny crystals embedded in to catch the moonlight an early invention to our ‘cats eyes’
I always imagined the gladiators to be big men but the guide told me the tallest would have probably only been 5ft in height.
