Good morning OFC members,

It’s a fresh new week! It rained lightly last night heralding Spring in SA. Yippee for skippee! Can I get a whoop, whoop!

I hope everyone got up on the right side of the bed this morning!

It’s Monday so it’s work for me! What’s your plans for the day? Enjoy your day!

South Africa

Good morning Minx, Gumbud and those to come.
It’s very cold here today, like Winter.
Off out this morning to do our weekly shopping.
Nothing else planned for the day.
Have a nice day all.

oh sorry forgot about yuz lot - we hear so little have you all diminished in size? ran out of diamonds or wot?

Really? You hear so little? I thought your prison colony days were long past

However, since you hear so little, here are some interesting facts about South Africa:

  1. South Africa is the only country with two Nobel Peace Prize Winners living on the same street. Nelson Mandela was a joint recipient in 1993. Desmond Tutu was awarded the prize in 1984. Both had houses in Vilakazi Street, Soweto.

  2. South Africa has the most diverse fossils of early dinosaurs. It is estimated that almost 80% of dinosaur fossils found to date were found in the Karoo region of the Western Cape.

  3. South Africa is the second largest producer of fruits in the entire world.

  4. South Africa is the first country to develop coal to oil technology. This came about because of sanctions against the country forcing it to seek alternate sources of oil.

  5. South Africa’s coastline is said to be almost 2,500 kilometres and has seen almost 2,000 shipwrecks most dating back 500 years ago.

  6. South Africa is extremely rich in mining and minerals. It is reported to have 90% of the world’s platinum materials, top ranked producer of gold with 41% of the world’s gold.

  7. The Palace of the Lost City located at Sun City in Rustenburg, North West Province, is the world’s largest themed hotel resort.

  8. The world’s first heart transplant was done in South Africa by Dr Christiaan Barnard on a Lithunian Jewish immigrant, Louis Washkansky.

You’re welcome

Now then children, play nicely… lol

Good morning all, mild here and a sunny day with 21deg forecast so looking good.

Just back from the weekly Tesco shop and catching five minutes on here whilst contemplating the day. Not much on the agenda although I can always find a job in the garden if I get desperate, although something usually turns up to pique my interest.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning each and every one. Bit dim but touches of blue on the horizon. Opticians today for an adjustment to Ill fitting specs. Temperature wise a bit low but who knows it could improve. Have a good day.

Good morning everyone :slightly_smiling_face: dull and damp but due to brighten up later.
I hope to get the washing dry and ironed.
A busy morning I am off to the GP for an ECG then back to cut the lawns.

Enjoy your day :slightly_smiling_face:

I was looking for the ‘Good Morning’ thread - is this it? Sorry, a bit confused by the title doesn’t take much

So, good morning everyone, another lovely day with blue sky and sunshine. Nothing much on the agenda today, just the usual housework and a bit of pottering.

Have a goood day folks

and current covid issues??

Yes it is Bathsheba.

Good morning all :slightly_smiling_face: overcast but warm here.

I’m off to see my daughter this morning and taking a few things over for her. Hopefully we will be able to sit out in her garden.

Meg :slightly_smiling_face: I hope all goes well with your ECG…

Enjoy your day folks….

Good morning everybody.

I have been searching for the ‘Good Morning’ thread too - guess this is it!

I am in a bit of pain this morning from my trochanteric bursitis.
I forgot to change my weekly opioid pain patch on Saturday & now I’m really feeling the pain. I’m going to put a new patch on right now & have a restful day - should be much better by tomorrow. I’ve rung the leisure centre to cancel my fitness class.

I plan on having a cook & paint day instead.
The fence needs another coat of paint & I want to make a big batch of ministrone soup. A few Anadin extra should help me get going.

Have a good day all.

Good morning! I was up early and got so much stuff done before 9am that I’m quite pleased with myself. Don’t know what else I shall be up to today, but I’m sure it will be fun. Have a lovely day everybody!

It was a warm winters day, got up to the mid 20’s but this evening it started to rain (something we desperately need) but tomorrow is going to be cold.

Had a good walk today but less likely tomorrow.

Anyway enjoy your day.

Good morning everybody.
Enjoy your day

I stayed there for a couple of nights on one of my working visits to SAfrica.
