Hi Bobby and welcome, I’m Roxanne (or Rox) and I live on the North Coast of Scotland. I can see Hoy across the ocean, the nearest of the Orkney Isles from my back door.

I did the tourist thing in California visited Alcatraz walked along Fishermans Wharf - Muir woods for the redwoods etc That as a good few years ago now.

As for Americans I think this says it all

An American couple we met on the internet. When they found out we were Visiting California they drove and did a 3 hour trip from their home Just to meet us. We took them a lilliput model of an English country cottage for them

Hi Bobby from another Bobby and a big welcome to the forum.
Hope you will stick around.
Sorry to hear about the floods out your way, hope you weren’t affected.
We don’t expect to hear about rain in California, it’s more a British thing…

Hi BobbyC again. Just of interest what do you do in California ? Your job/projects ? I have travelled quite a bit as an electrical engineer - including California !

I’m semi-retired. I was in horticulture and landscape management specializing in commercial and industrial landscape sales, maintenance, and project mgmt in construction (landscape enhancements)for many years with a few different large and medium sized companies. Then high tech and property management.

Thank you for that, BobbyC. I like the industrial landscapes. I suppose your climate there should be beneficial for that. For me I have had north of Canada around -18C (0F) to +40C (104F).
