Introduction in verse

I hope that I may be excused if I take this opportunity to introduce myself by way of one of my poems. I write purely for amusement.
OLD MAN’S LAMENT.

Me tabs don’t work, I’m Mutt and Jeff,
now me hair is falling out.
Me bladder leaks, me right knee creaks,
and I’ve got a touch of gout.

I don’t know where I put me spec’s.
Not in the fridge, first place I looked.
Now I smell burning from the stove.
Oh, I fear my goose is cooked.

Maybe, I should have paid more note,
When warned of whisky drinking
But it’s still music to my ears.
To hear those glasses clinking.

But there’s one thing that worries me
It concerns “my little friend”
Why does he constantly ignore,
The firm messages I send?

My doctor said, it’s hard to tell,
But thinks the drink’s to blame for it.
I said “I’d better come next week,
When you’ve sobered up a bit”.

So I shall take me off to bed
And face yet another plight.
How do you get a good night’s sleep,
When you need three wees a night?

Hello Paddy  a very warm welcome to Over50sForum …

Hello Paddy.
Welcome aboard.
Great poem!

Hello and welcome!

You haven’t done bad
Finding the forum that makes you glad
And the folks on here will make you smile
If you were to hang around awhile.

Hello Paddy  welcome…

Hello and welcome from me too.

Hi Paddy.

I’m sorry to hear all the things in your post
It comes to us all in the end
But I have to say what would bother me most
Is the loss of my ‘Little Friend’.

Welcome to the forum.

Hello Paddy
A welcome from me
Drinking coffee now
After having a wee
Tortoise is eating a finely diced pear
Cats are fed too and have not a care
The weather is warm
The sun is shining
‘Tis def not the day for tackling ironing
So I’ll slob around and stay indoors
And sometimes gaze at the mess on the floor
Cats’ hair adorns the two Persian rugs
Oh poo to that … I smile and shrug

Great verse there Paddy, well done.
A very warm welcome from Dublin’s fair city.

(My God you even got a poem out of Barry, that’s an achievement in itself, well done Barry and all the rest of the bards)

I do try to use my poetry skills sparingly Jem, not wanting to inflict them on you other innocent forumeers for glaringly obvious reasons…

Good morning Paddy matey and welcome.
