Received this from our ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ people this morning:-
" It DEFINITELY is a scam.
Please be aware of adverts on social media or recommendations from ‘friends’ who claim you can make a fortune in crypto currency.
We have received a few reports lately where victims have seen adverts either recommended by friends or endorsed by celebrities (Holly & Phil being a common one) who claim they can make a fortune in Bitcoin or other crypto currency. The advert encourages the victim to register their details and they are contacted shortly afterwards by an ‘Account Manager’ who will initially encourage a small investment and then claim this initial investment is growing and you should invest more.
THIS IS A SCAM AND YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY
For info, the price of Bitcoin has fallen by nearly 40% over the past year and by nearly 16% in the past week alone.
There is no ‘get rich quick’ scheme and unfortunately I have seen victims go bankrupt as a result of this scam.
Please ignore such adverts or any ‘friend’ recommendations"
Oooh this reminds me of an artist I was following, and she suddenly went all BitCoiny, and encouraging people to invest, showing what she had made with her money etc. It was so very far removed from her usual posts, that I unfollowed her just last week. Not sure if her account was hacked or what, but its all very strange indeed.
This was mention this morning some BBC program and it seems the tech savvy 16-34 year olds are mainly falling for this one.
I’m still waiting on a young beautiful girl to approach me with promises of pleasures to come if only I give her loads of money.
I need to get rich quick as l have had a demand for $4500 from the man who sent me an email. If l pay, he will keep quiet!
He was able to tell me my password for the porn site l have been viewing!
I don’t want my family and friends to know, so l need to get this money really fast.
Any suggestions, as l don’t want to be shamed!!
