The Liberal Party (Australia’s equivalent of the UK Tory conservative party) has missed the deadline for nominating candidates in the upcoming local government elections in seven electorates.
How can a party be so incompetent? It is not as if the deadline was a secret, the election is in September.
In Wollongong the Liberal candidate for Lord Mayor misses out on the election after the incumbent mayor Independent Gorden Bradbury is not standing again so he stood a good chance.
I can not follow these views. The Liberals (left, socialist, Democrats) consistently being incompetent. This is no surprise to the right. Surprised it’s so visible in one place and totally elusive in other places.
NSW Liberals have dropped their threat to take legal action over the state Electoral Commission’s refusal to grant a deadline extension after the party’s failure to nominate dozens of candidates for local elections next month. They did this after receiving legal advice that the action could not succeed.
The “monumental debacle” means ratepayers in up to a dozen Sydney councils and others across the state won’t have a Liberal candidate to vote for on September 14 and has cost NSW director Richard Shields his job.
This will probably be off subject, beings this appears as a Liberal bashing thread, but the Democratic Charter defines the essential elements of representative democracy in very specific terms, including: respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms; holding free and fair elections; a pluralistic system of political parties and organizations; separation of powers; independence of the branches of government, this means representation from / for every citizen / group of society. Nothing worth having is ever going to be easy, but a free society respecting the rights/ needs / betterment of all will pay dividends for society as a whole.
Then (in your eyes), Democracy is subjective, something to manipulate and control, that is why true freedom loving Americans do not want / need your leaders / version of Democracy, a true Democracy welcomes input from all sides, that is what makes it work. People always argue about how bad Communism is, yet there has never been a country that was a true Communist , Socialist and / or Democracy, just countries who claim to represent these ideologies / leaders who wish to brand rival countries who do not comply with their ideologies. Russia / China / Cuba are dictatorships, not Communist, the USA is a Corporatocracy, not a Democracy, just that US society has been brain washed for decades about the evils of Communism / Socialism without appreciating what true Communism / Socialism bring to the table, why ? Because they contradict the values / goals (which is to keep the lower classes fighting each other) of the rich and Corportocracy.
Are you still referring to the US as before or to something different. If this is about the US again. Good example of uninformed. Show me anywhere in the Constitution starting the US is a Democracy. Again showing lack of knowledge of 7th and 8th grade level civics.
But thanks for the information. I’ve been to East Germany and Czechoslovakia under communist rule. There was differently a wealth difference .
Again, they ( East Germany / Czechoslovakia) were ruled by dictatorships. In practice Czechoslovakia was a one-party dictatorship run by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, the KSC. In the 1970s and 1980s the government structure was based on the amended 1960 Constitution of Czechoslovakia, which defined the country as the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. After WWII East Germany was allied by the Soviet Union and fell under highly centralized communist rule under Stalin, aka a dictatorship. You are just spewing out decades old propaganda from the McCarthy era, pure McCarthism.
They were socialist countries, can’t change the facts.
I’ve dealt with socialist countries. Let exchange personnel experiences on mingeling with the people.
