Today (December 6, 2024) marks the 35 year anniversary of this mass shooting and the lives of these 14 women; may they all rest in peace :cry: :broken_heart: :pray:

Awful and not stuff you expect from Canada.It must have been a shock for the whole country.

Nor me. We must be so inured by mass shootings in the USA it slipped under the radar.

I wonder how many of you remember the Aberfan disaster? It was a coalmine that collapsed in Wales killing 144 people most of them children at the school.

I definitely remember Aberfan, the PM come up smelling of roses while the Queen shot herself in the foot again.

I dont remember an event that happened i n another country when I was 25 years old either

For Canada, it is one of their worst mass shootings so stays in their mind - the way Port Arthur does for Australians but probably not people in other countries

For Scotland it is the 1996 Dunblane Primary School massacre when 16 pupils and 1 teacher were killed.

and probably in Scotland and Canada as in Australia (and New Zealand after their event there in 2019) - gun law reforms were introduced and no event on that scale has happened since.
