Today (December 6, 2024) marks the 35 year anniversary of this mass shooting and the lives of these 14 women; may they all rest in peace
I’m sorry I don’t remember this.
Awful and not stuff you expect from Canada. It must have been a shock for the whole country.
Nor me. We must be so inured by mass shootings in the USA it slipped under the radar.
I wonder how many of you remember the Aberfan disaster? It was a coalmine that collapsed in Wales killing 144 people most of them children at the school.
I definitely remember Aberfan, the PM come up smelling of roses while the Queen shot herself in the foot again.
are CA gun laws still as laxed as USA’s then?
I dont remember an event that happened i n another country when I was 25 years old either
For Canada, it is one of their worst mass shootings so stays in their mind - the way Port Arthur does for Australians but probably not people in other countries
For Scotland it is the 1996 Dunblane Primary School massacre when 16 pupils and 1 teacher were killed.
and probably in Scotland and Canada as in Australia (and New Zealand after their event there in 2019) - gun law reforms were introduced and no event on that scale has happened since.
