Im not new...

But I took a few days break and got lost for a few years…

So the wanderer returns and wonders whats new?

Hi Cass, you haven’t missed much. The UK is out of the EU and there’s a virus going round - don’t know if you’ve seen it in the press.

Welcome back.

Hello Cass  welcome back!

Hello Cass, welcome back!

Hello Cass  a voice from the past :surprised:
Lovely to hear from you…

Welcome back!

dont know who you are cass but hi

Hi Cass, nice to see you here again.

Hi everyone, thankyou for the welcomes… I had heard about Brexit lets face it like any divorce the only real winners were the lawyers…

The virus might have been mentioned a million or so times a day too. Cant believe there are still people who think its just a cold!

As for me, the world has not stood still here either. Some people might know that my husband got ill in 2012 then the company he worked for was sold to a multinational who decided they didnt want a sick employee and tried to get rid of him, the stress really got to him and in feb 2014 he had a heart attack which he recovered well from. The company then took us to court to try to get rid of him because all attempts at bullying had failed and I represented him after sacking our lawyer, I won hands down and he was awarded full disabliity in Nov 2015 … This was mainly due to the fact that after the heart attack I knew something wasnt right so we pushed and pushed for more testing and finally in Jan 2015 he got the diagnoses of FTD, we were expecting something like this but it was still a blow. All the plans you have tucked away for the future those retirement plans go straight out the window, this condition has a life expectancy of 3 -8 year afters diagnoses.
So I made the decision to give up work and become his full time carer, it seemed silly me working as a home carer looking after other people when I could be at home with him.
We are now together almost 24/7 so far Ive managed to avoid drowing him although at times its tempting.
FTD makes him behave like an autistic child throwing temper tantrums if he gets the wrong end of the stick or cant have what he wants.

Most days by keeping to our routine and keeping to ourselves he is ok and happy.

So thats my life right now. Dog walking looking after OH and taking a few photos… Its not what I imagined but its not too bad.

Sorry to hear this sad story @Cass but can I ask what is FTD?

Sure FTD stands for frontal temporal dementia. Don’t confuse it with Alzheimer’s though . There are several varients OHs affects his word memory , emotions and planning.
