I'm A Celebrity will swap jungle for ruined British castle - Update: Gwrych castle granted £2m for repairs

The broadcaster said the coronavirus pandemic meant it “just wasn’t possible for us to travel and make the show” Down Under as usual.

That means bush tucker trials are out, but ITV promised similarly “gruelling trials and fun-filled challenges”.

ITV hasn’t revealed the location, apart from saying it’s “in the countryside”.

It has also not revealed whether the participating celebrities will live in the castle itself or in a camp.

The company had “pulled out all the stops” to make the series happen in Australia, he said.

“Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and despite us looking at many different contingencies, it became apparent that it just wasn’t possible for us to travel and make the show there,” he said.

“However, we are all really excited about a UK version of I’m A Celebrity. While it will certainly be different producing the show from the UK, the same tone and feel will remain.”

Well, that’ll be different ……

Still, Ant’n’Dec will get a “lie-in” ……

We’ll have to wait and see what it’s like then.
I have felt for the last couple of years it could do with a change and was getting a bit tedious.

I think the same, Mups, so I will watch the new version.

In Australia, the campers often got wet, but in the UK they will get cold, too … and the days will be really short … :!:

Never mind a castle. Perhaps they should set up camp in a traveller’s site and take part in the wild and vile activities involved there.

This should be fun

:043: Love it! Having said that, can’t stand the programme and have never watched it beyond the first 10mins or so of the very 1st episode.

It wasn’t all bad, some bits were very entertaining. I never watch the bush tracker trials though, I’d throw up.

Hi

I don’t watch it and won’t be watching the new one.

Once got quite “involved” in the one which had Anne Heggarty in it for some reason. Never watched any other of the series though.

So many trials spring to mind:

1/. Flytipping skills
2/. Tarmac layings
3/. Drive washing
4/. Stealing pets
5/. Setting fire to things
6/. Fighting off the bailiffs

etc etc etc

So it seems:

:lol:It’s light (very) light entertainment, the entertaining part is the complaints from watchers complaining about the traumatic stress suffered by snakes, spiders etc being disturbed by humans

My garden’s like a jungle and I have slugs and snails they could use for Bushtucker! They could’ve used it for a couple of million!

Me neither .

I’m A Celeb’s new camp is spooky castle in Wales haunted by floating woman in white

Show chiefs have paid a king’s ransom to secure the sprawling and spooky-looking 200-year-old Gwrych Castle folly in North Wales.

The eerie ruins are said to be prowled by the spectre of previous owner, the Countess of Dundonald.

Trials are set to have a medieval theme, including jousting, dungeons and even fake gallows.

Recall seeing a documentary about the place recently. Think it was built in the 19th century.

Indeed it was and has seen better times … :!:

In the 1970’s I lived not far from Abergele, where it’s located, and it was used for medieval banquets and re-enactments but I believe that it’s become considerably run-down since then …

Never knew that.

Also, seem to recall from the documentary that the place was part of a dispute involving a divorce settlement. Think I need to find the documentary and re-watch it.

Stunning new aerial shots show castle getting ready for I’m a Celebrity launch

These images captured by a drone show the property and its estate ahead of the new series’ launch.

The new photos show temporary roofing installed for the production as well as wooden structures.
