If you are/were a drinker, what drinks did you not like but still drank/drink?

I wouldn’t know Spitty but potentially a great chat up line,
or so I’m led to believe.

Occasional drinker here, about twice a week; I never drink anything I do not like. Basically Irish whisky(Tullamore Dew) and black coffee is my go to drink, and if I drink beer it is either Guinness Stout or Smithwicks Irish Red Ale.

I detested Whiskey after drinking a whole bottle neat when I was 17? An adult told me it was a good remedy for a toothache

Is alcohol in any form really a remedy for anything ? I drink for the taste, Tullamore Dew is a nice smooth sipping whisky by it’s self, no ice, but I enjoy black coffee with Tully, Brandy, Cognac, very nice. Beer is a none drinking evening, maybe 1 or 2, and mostly an Irish Stout (Guinness / Murphy’s) or an Irish Ale, though when available, Bass Ale is a nice one, New Castle is a might sweet for my taste.

I haven’t had one of these for years…

I wonder if they could mix a decent bloody mary in my friendly local?
Perhaps I should make enquiries, purely in the name of research of course!

Brings me back ska days in school I loved this song had the record little did I know then I’d end up nearly loseing my life to Alcohol but sober 15 years now and all is good but this brilliant song in a strange way reminds me never to go back down that road but I will always love this song it’s a classic

I feel that. There’s always that one drink you can’t stand but end up sipping anyway just because it’s there or it’s the cheapest option available.

For me, it was always those overly sweet, bottom-shelf vodkas, tasted like rubbing alcohol mixed with sugar, but they got the job done when the budget was tight. Sometimes you just prioritize the effect over the actual flavor.

I agree to a certain degree, I believe there are usually extenuating circumstances why one drinks those type of drinks you’ve mentioned, and it’s usually to for a “quick high” or to escape something. Personally, I never drink anything I do not enjoy, but then I drink for taste / enjoyment, and it’s usually includes a coffee mix ( black coffee with Irish Whisky / Brandy/ Cognac).

That’s the thing senile1, just glad those guys @ Carlsberg got it just about right.
